firstly forgive my ignorance but what is it?is it an halflife mod,how does it play,what do you have to do and should i download it?

Day of Defeat

Its a World War 2 Based game, used on the half Life engine.

Good Fun, takes a bit of getting used to, but doesnt all games?

btw, its a "Capture the Flag" type Game

Imagine a game where everyone camps and anyone who doesn't gets shot by enemy players he hasn't even seen.

If you want ww2 action play Battlefield 1942 !!!!

True, but rarely (as long as you keep moving around) and there's very few hiding places

...and you can drive jeeps and tanks and planes and apc's and destroyers and aircraft carriers

You can't run over campers in do humiliation-style donuts over their corpses in DoD tho :)

Dont listen to them Scoob. People DO camp in DoD, but i tend to be rather succesful by doing the exact opposite and attacking. You can do both.
oh , and its not a capture the flag game per se, you do capture flags, but not to return them to your base as in Quake, but to control territory. Its also very realistic, enough to make CS look unrealistic, no getting 2 hits with a rifle and shooting back, take a bullet from a Kar 98 rifle and you is dead bwoy :)
On most maps you respawn as reinforcements after 10 seconds or so, thus campers can be dealt with easily.
You run at a similar speed to real life.
Its a Half-Life mod.
Errr... its good .
errrr.... KEA are recruiting for DoD, if you get it and like it gimme a shout m8 :)
