Do I need my Thermals?

Right then I have just bought My T'Bird Athlon 800, and my heat sink and fan, just a wee cooler master, but one of my mates said that I need to use thermal paste, I have heard of people usiing this , I.E Artic and stuff but do I need to use it, I thought that it was just for Overclocking, purposes. Anyway how amazing is the feeling of buildinga PC it rocks like a bitch wooo

otherwise, if the heatsink isnt exactly flat, and the spu is the same, then hardly any of it will touch and boooom, one fried chip

if the heatsink already had some gooey stuff on then ya ok, if it didnt, then ya screwed

say bye bye to ya cpu.

Yep I'd use it on any modern CPU.

Ive seen thermal paste knock 25-30 deg. C off a 700 coppermine. So u dont need it, but neither do u need the extra heat....
