i have a lvl23 Shade and yestaday i spoted a lvl21-22 wizard siting down doing nothing so i went upto him and got into a nice possition and PA'ed him (with Dot Poison on 2 dirks) .. as usual i got a 1hit kill no problem there - then i looked at the dmg ... i hit him for over 1000dmg including .. perfect hit bonus and critical hit + normal dmg.. i then said in the cg "holy crap i just hit some guy for 1k dmg" and some guy got all sarcastic about it and didn't believe me! (not that i care coz i know what im looking at, no point in lieing about it, maybe he just cant believe that i can hit harder then his pbaoe, i dun know.) anyway i dont have a screenshot or anything so i cant prove this but obviously im suposed to have a dmg cap - can anyone clarify for me that it is possible that i did infact hit for over 1000dmg coz im having doubts myself! maybe ... critical dmg and perfect hit bonus all stack together in the main dmg section but they put it in for the hell of it, i dun know! i just need some kind of explanation!

I often heard that the killing blow can get weird style bonus and damage amount values.

Looks like this is the case here.

If you use a style on someone and you see something like You hit XXX for 200 (+800) damage! then you hit him for 200, not for 1000. The +800 shows that your style hit him for optimum damage, but you can't go over your damage cap, and at level 23, it's nowhere near 1000 (hit some level 1 grey mobs to see your cap).

1K damage does seem a little ott mind, normally only get that from a lvl 50 NS when another person is sat down and unarmoured, mind im not even sure if that would get 1k dmg :-/

didn't hit for 200 (+800) .. hit for

250ish for perfect PA
600ish for normal dmg
150ish for critical strike ...or something along those lines, otherwise would have been
250 (+156)
600 (+442)
150+

which would mean i would have though i hit somewhere near the 1500dmg mark =/

... question is, is perfect hit with PA and Crit Strike allready included in the normal dmg section?
im thinking it must be coz your right my dmg cap is miles off that, but my original calculation of 1k dmg wasnt made up of the dmg listed +dmg in the brackets) im sure of that coz that was brought up in the CG disagreement i had as a possible reason how i could have 1kdmg!

o well my search for an answer continues :(

Yep style damage is already added to the the 'You hit wizzie with your rapier for 300 damage!' message.

I think around 300 is cap for the usual assassin in Thidranki.
Shadowblades can hit for around 450 if they use a slow 2hander.

Then if you had a nice critical hit on that PA you would have hit him for 400-450. :)

But hitting for 1000 is not possible at that level.

Yup style damage and the +/- from resists etc is allways included in the damage that stands, crits are added to that

It looks something like this when you succesfully use a style:

You preform <insert style here> perfectly +yyy
You hit <random person> for xxx dmg (+zzz)

+yyy is the style bonus, +zzz is resistbonus and xxx is the actual dmg you did.

and yes, I am 100% sure about that xxx is the actual dmg... remember hiting keep doors and getting +1000 for a style (+yyy) and dmg for 10ish (xxx)? that would mean a person would be 50% better then a siege ram that hits for 750 dmg... ;p

edit: bumped the thread while looking for another since it looked a lill intresting
