Programs like Radar are forbidden but nobody cares about an irc channel like daoc.prydwen, anyone who using it knows exactly what is going on in the frontiers, even as a low realmrank Minstrel who is trying to obtain some realmponts in Emain, everyone using that irc channel knows what iam doing, what anyone is doing, this is sad, so sad... :(

irc has insecure communities with an intense member structure. If you're online 18+hours a day, you can expect to break into one of these groups and eventually get voiced or even OP!(for the powerhungry sychophant who's spent 4months ass kissing all the other ops)

If you're promoted, you can spam and talk all the shit you want; relic-raid blabs or even betraying your own realm's movements is acceptable. For the newbie who enters the channel and mentions something about 2 stealthers at the amg.... instaban!!! That'll teach the noob not to give away ingame info on a public channel! and incase he didn't get the message, PM him abuse and post the chatlog on a forum.

Alot of IRC channels are populated and policed by children, so you shouldn't expect anything sensible from them :p

Kind of true, but you also get nice people on IRC that are a good laugh

yeah if you got a big mouth that just need to tell everyone on every channel what you're doing this might be true.
Get a clue please. if you are dedicated to your realm you wouldn't give the enemies info would you now? and if unserious buggers come in to whatever chatroom spilling the goods, it's the Ops responsabilities to kick/ban the feckers! :p
Yes I use mIRC, mostly on another server than q-net, but Q-net aswell for our guild channel only.
Silly post to start with imo.

It happens tho, that some blabbermouth shares fratile information with realmenemies... But its the risk of having online communities get-togethers such as IRC and this Forum... But then again, realmspying isnt a new thingy

It has just become easier with the ToA ML encounters threads. :wij:

Really? Some ppl couldnt careless about there realm, and only play for self gratitude and self gain/preservation. We all know it goes on amongest certain small circles.

The game has been like this for a long time imo, very selfious sometimes and if needed sacrifical to meet thier own ends, dunno about Mid Excal but Prydwen seems this way.

Enable cross realm channels?

Played planetside, seemed to work fine then with out much abuse on the whole. Its all a bit "taboo" the minute something isnt unobtainable/off limits MOST ppl dont abuse them, yea you get the silly little kidies and childish ppl but you cant do much about them.

Human nature isnt it, rules in place are just asking to be broken. If these rules/boundarys are lax then most ppl see no need in abusing them.

Your from Holland arent ya, so you will know more about these than me being from UK were similar "taboos" arent or vicevirca.

allowing things that arent usually allowed has its advantages and disadvantages, its a sacrifice you make and whether or not what you gain is worth it is arguable...

but i dont think giving people a ingame crossrealm channel will help much, since for most people irc simply is a parmenent way of being in contact with the daoc community which you can run 24/7 with no problem while doing other stuff...

i like that system on Planetside. made quite a few friends on the "opposing" team that way. almost always fun to chat with a enemy that u feel was a worthy opponent :)

sure once in a while u get a /tell saying PRAWNED!!!11111111oneoneone!

from a guy that rolled over u in a tank while u were on foot but... :)

tho, i'm not so sure that system would work in this game.. as most ppl playing this game tend to take things WAY to serious.... theres a more relaxed community on PS..

I think the mainpost should be more about people who report it then the means cause there are many ways of letting an enemy know about RvR stuff...

You mean like lining someone up in your sniper rifle sights, and then pming them a logn question requireing a reasonable amount of typing in response, and opening fire. :p

There are some people who used IRC long before DAoC even existed and will continue to use it even after the last server has been shut down.

That's damn lies, IRC was created only to ruin the gameplay experience of lots of daoc players around the world.

Seriously, some people (hi Balbor), seems to think this is the truth, and that all day long there are people sitting on IRC spying on other realms, gathering info about everything from relic raids to what colour Timmy Troll dyed his boxershorts.

If you don't like a channel then don't go in there. Furthermore Albion/Prydwen ran a successful, Saturday afternoon, relic raid this weekend which obviously wasn't spoiled by anyone on IRC.
