How do you think RvR have evolved since you started playing?
-

For better or for worse?
-

Cool stuff to implement in the future?
- DAoC is imo going towards a more competative game. A cool detail imo would be to add sawmils and mines as captureable stuff in RvR. The more you control, the cheaper the materials is to buy(for crafters).

- Anyone played Planetside? BG leaders have some great features to lead the BG. Set waypoints on map etc.

Its a discussion not a flame-wars thread. :)

People don´t give a flying f*ck about taking keeps and opening DF or defending relics.. do you really think someone would care to take mines to make crafting materials cheaper? If you add something like that, you need to find a GOOD reason for people to actually do it.
Good reasons these days are rps and itamz! :)

When DAOC was first released it was a pretty free and open game, and you could pretty much play however you wanted and fight the sort of encounters you wanted with relative ease.

Over the years though Mythic have slowely but surely forced the game down the path of large scale warfare and zerging, making alternative playstyles all but impossible or at the very least, unrewarding.

Its no longer a simple 'pick up and play' game, its hideously complicated now and theres so much a person needs to know to remain competitive it would be a nightmare for a 'new' player to start in afresh which is why you wont see hardly any new players in RvR anymore. I have friends who'd love to start playing again, but when I tell them what they'd need to do to bring there pre-SI characters back up to a competitive level it scares them off, and we havent even got champion levels yet.

This is not healthy for a games long term appeal, and I could not honestly tell an outsider that RvR is that much fun anymore. Alot of the time its a labour of love, because if you don't share Mythic's vision of what RvR should be, then your pretty much screwed most of the time for finding the fights you want.

I don't mind them adding new content, but I hate being forced to having to play like someone else wants us to.

Waypoints would be cool.

Aye, like someone said it worked well in planetside. Maybe introduce the command ranks too to encourage leaders to step forward, give a new ability at each rank (e.g. in planetside you could write on the map, call in orbital strikes afaik - havent played it in years).

Dont know how well that'd translate but at least taking a relic etc would give a bonus to the leader of the bg, meaning more attempts in general.

game is very poorly balanced but mythic got the great catch phrase....

like the game is abalance on Mass large scale RVR....

which if you think about it for like a few minutes you realise is just complete horseshit. (its a either a lie, or if they honestly believe it to be true then be concerned, or its an excuse)

Champion levels aren't that much of an issue, you can talk to the King, go rvr and forget about those levels for 300k rps or so, then you should ding CL5. Yes, you get a weapon from it, although the stats are largely similar to artifacts already, you get some lvl 20ish abilities which doesn't really alter the game in a grand scheme and you get access to better horses!

You could choose the PVE route for CLs and just do the quests and xp, which might be a bit quicker due to static spawns and such.

Imho, I don't think CLs are a valid concern for people adding it to the grind to stay competative.

I think it's a very hard one this. On the one hand - you have to keep the people that have played the game for years happy, giving them things to show that the time they have spent in the game means something.
On the other hand, you also have to make the game accessible to new people, and if you think about what you need to do to make a character competitive - it can be quite scary, unless you roll one of the newer fotm classes.
New class needs Toon, +possible BB+ Equipment/Artis+Level them up/Scrolls/ML's. On the other hand, it is getting easier to get these things and you can compete with minimal artis and ML's.

I still personally think there are things that could be done to make life easier.
I'd like to see SHARED ML status across toons. If you are ML9 on one, you should be ML9 on all, across the same account (once they are 50 etc).
Shared RPs across toons (i.e. you have an RP Pool that all toons share - so if you feel like being a healer, or caster or SB, everything contributes into it)
Once you have done an artifact encounter+scrolls and activated it, it again should be "shared" amongst your toons and they should be able to borrow each arti from a pool and get the appropriate caster or melee stats each time (say gov for example).

This would certainly make it better for newcomers and all people.

some good, some bad. alot of ToA was badly thought out but at the end of the day perhaps it achieved its goal (as far as Mythic are concerned) ...

Thing is now the RvR scenary is just plain and simple boring. The game has nothing left of what it once was.
Port to DC camp agramon bridges, I mean lol talk about pointless RvR.

Then add borded full groups roaming solo grounds on purpuse just to be lame and piss ppl off, yah the perfect game... :twak:
