Hi there :)

I want to start reading the discworld novels after reading my first book by Prachett (The Carpet People) and I would like to know a few questions first.

Are they in any order?

If so where can I obtain a list so I can read them in order?

Thanks :)

This is the order they were written in:
(I wouldnt read all of them in one go it will be too much for the brain to cope with!!)

The Colour of Magic
The Light Fantastic
Equal Rites
Mort
Sourcery
Wyrd Sisters
Pyramids
Guards Guards
Eric
Moving Pictures
Reaper Man
witches Abroad
Small Gods
Lords & Ladies
Men at Arms
Soul Music
Interesting Times
Maskerade
Feet of Clay
Hogfather
Jingo
The Last Continent
Carpe Jugulum
The Fifth elephant
The Truth
Thief of Time
Night Watch

You can actually read them in any order but I would read the first three first.

Also Good Omens is superb!!

And so is Diggers, Truckers and Wings

Don't forget 'The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents', one for the kids but it is still a Discworld book. I wouldn't recommend buying them at WHSmiths though as the class 'NannyOgg's Cookbook' as non-fiction. I'd like to see them find dwarf bread and a joint of rat in asda.

The one's with either the watch guard or Death as the main focus of the story have always been my favorite.

I worked there (Asda) as a student and some of the stuff is pretty close :)

On a non-pratchett note, I would recommend 'The Stone Giant' by James P. Blaylock. Similar to Pratchett's style. But it has goblins that set fire to their hair in it. Worth the read IMO.

novels?
I thought there was only one graphic novel.

And yes it is teh win.

I quite like Terry Pratchett but he's arsed up. He writes one main novel per year and a couple of kids stories and other stuff.

He's just churning it out with no feeling etc.

The first 10-12 were pretty good but it gets a bit boring after a while.

I think he means the graphic/comic version of Mort, there are a few that have been done like that.

Pratchett fan meself, I have all the books and a few signed hardbacks too :)

There are a number of supplements to the Discworld series, some maps, an encyclopaedia, and two "Science of Discworld" books which have stories in them too.

Pratchetts first books, pre-Discworld, are Dark Side of the Sun and Strata, there is also the "Johnny" series starting with Only You Can Save Mankind.
