Since i have been on my own insurance [Since last year] i was on Direct Line. Needless to say, their website is less than adequate and quite a pain in the arse to navigate around.

It was easy to take out the insurance initially, yet this year when i went to renew it wouldnt. I had to either take out a new insurance policy [?] or phone them. I am not really a great fan of phoning people, specially customer services so that wasnt the plan.

Each time i clicked on "renew" it would send me back to the main page. Eventually i got pissed off with this, and ended up taking up my car insurance with Priviledge as they was the next cheapest. [Or infact cheapest, since i couldnt get a renew quote irregardless!]

Priviledge asked for my No Claims proof, i put down i had 1 year No Claims which was valid and then forgot about it. Ive been on the insurance about 2monts or so now with Priviledge. However i have today recieved a letter from them saying i still havent sent in the no Claims proof.

Direct Line has not sent me anything. So. I go onto the Direct Line website [Which, again, i hate] and nowhere can i find anything about no Claims proof. I look for an email facility [Since i dont want to phone them] but i am not supplied with anything but an FAQ which sucks.

So im somewhat slightly stuck now

Phoning them shouldn't be a tremendous problem - asking for proof of no claims is a fairly common thing. Alternatively, if you can wait you could just send them a letter via recorded delivery asking for it.

Surely Direct Line sent you something through the post at renewal time?

That would have stated somewhere what your no claims period was. This is what you need to send to Privilege. When you change insurance companies they will always do this, without exception.

Treat this as urgent, as it is quite possible that this years insurance could be stopped if they don't get it, and you may not find out until some time after it has happened. It is therefore quite easy to be driving without insurance without realising it.

They did exactly the same to me, except even worse, my previous policy had actually been with Privilege! (albeit with a gap between policies). I called them, told them to sort it out internally and get off my back, which they've done. I suggest you do the same, since as Deebs points out, its all the same company.

I'm with Direct line and i never renew my insurance, you save more money by creating a new policy rather than renewing.

Yup, it's much better (cheaper) to cancel then reapply as they tend to rip you off on the renewal cost, this goes for privledge aswell (as stated they are one and the same)
