digisender & PC-TV

I recently bought a Digisender system to beam Sky & DVD pictures up to my bedroom. It works great; the picture is crystal clear and the remotes work fine.

This got me thinking about having Sky/DVD display on my PC. If I bought another Digisender receiver and a TV card, in theory I should be able to watch news/films/etc on my monitor... I might be able to record them too! The connections would be composite or S-Video (unless there's a tv card that accepts Scart).

Has anyone tried this, or have any experience of doing this?

Macrovision on the premium channels might upset something in the chain, although I'm not sure what a digisender is exactly - I presume some kind of digital short range transmission?

It's a device that transmits pictures and stereo sound, from any attached device, on the 2.4GHz band to a receiver in another part of a house (there's also things like CCTV cameras & PC->TV transmitters one can attach to beam signals also).

At the moment I'm using it to transmit pics/sound from my Sky+ box and my DVD player.

A tv card would, I assume, act just like a normal tv. I also assume that the supplied software would work as if the signal was coming from an aerial, i.e be able to copy it. I've no idea if the macrovision thing is transmitted along with the signal (the signal is supplied from the TV Scart on the decoder box).

I guess the only way to find out is to try it. Extra receivers aren't that much, and a tv card is pretty reasonable too I think.

I have a wireless network in the house also (802.11b), and don't have any trouble with it. This particular Digisender has selectable channels, so I just chose one other than that used on my network.

I've got digisenders although I've never tried them that way round I don't see why they wouldn't work. I thought the whole macrovision thing only kicked in when you put the signal through a video recorder. The PC should be fine with it. Can't hurt to try can it? It's only a 5 minute job to plug it all in.
