Does anyone have a good diet plan that they can share with us?

My Aim:

Personally I want to eat between 800-1200 cal a day.

I was thinking maybe...

Breakfast: Granola Bar
Lunch: Just Fruit and Water
Dinner: Jacket Potato (tuna/beans) no butter no cheese

Something like this every day...

you dont need to eat shit like that to keep that calorie count man :p dig around on the net there are alot of diets that let you eat what you want, its more a case of your portion sizes and not binging/snacking between meals.

That's too low, men should be getting 2.5k a day...women 1.9k. It's not a case of eating less, its a case of doing more and eating the right things. You lose weight by using more energy than you consume.

800-1200 calories a day?? How much weight do you want to lose?? That is a massive drop from the average of 2500 for a guy.

Here's what worked for me (it might not for you)

- Eat when hungry not at set times
- Cut out bread
- Reduce portion size
- No snacking on fatty shit during the day. If I want a snack, I'll eat some fruit or a carrot. Since I love fresh fruit, this is better than all the breakfast / lunch shite anyway
- I don't have breakfast or lunch during the week - just a relatively heathly evening meal of moderate size; the only thing I'll eat between 5am and 6pm Monday-Friday will be fruit & water
- Weekends I allow myself bacon & takeaways. My little treat

The occasional snack / junk food won't kill you. You just need to moderate intake of fatty crap.

As I say worked for me. Combine with exercise the weight will slough off you.

I just lost 3 inches in 2.5 months. I don't understand why people set goals of calories (which arent even accurate) or a certain weight (it's just a number?).

Something real to me is losing x inches off the waist!

I cut out rice, wheat, potato.

Breakfast: 2 eggs.
Lunch: Ham + spinach + 2 chicken sticks
Dinner: Burger (just the meat or a steak) but check the contents the fat amount varies a lot. I have the meat with chick peas or lentils and mixed veg, as much of both as you want.

Saturdays I cheat and have whatever I want and as much as I want (go ahead and eat a cake for 6 if you want).

That is just a guideline though. It can vary by as much as 1000 calories either way.

Find your BMR first

66 + (6.23 x 'your weight in lbs') + (12.7 x 'your height in ins')
- (6.8 x 'your age')

So at 15 stone, 6 foot and 33, I use 2064 calories a day, so if I was to eat 2500, I would put on weight.

I'm currently dropping about 1.5-2lb a week through a combination of diet and exercise. The latter is the key - I'm eating easily 2,000-3,000 calories per day, but my exercise is wiping off about half that. I use this website to keep a track on what I'm eating. It has an Android/iPhone app. I tell it what I weigh, how much I want to lose, and how quickly. It then tells me how many calories I can eat (net) per day, if I want to achieve that weight loss.

It's really very simple, and although I've always loved cycling if I'm feeling a bit tired there's nothing quite like a calorie counter heading rapidly past my "weight loss limit" to make me get out there on the bike and wipe 1,000 calories off. For exercise tracking I use this website's app/ on my Android phone. I also have a bluetooth heartrate monitor which increases accuracy, in terms of calories burnt (it also lets me see how hard my heart is working, and if it's beating too quickly).

Trust me, if you're eating less than your body needs and not exercising, you will not lose weight. You need to eat a good 2,500 calories a day, and wipe 1,000 off with a form of exercise you not only like, but love. I should add that I've cycled regularly for 20 years, but I haven't paid much attention to what I eat. When you record the calorific value of the food you eat, it's surprising how easy it is to eat too much.

That figure is what your body uses sans exercise - if you lay in bed and ate 2,000 calories, you wouldn't put on weight. You can happily eat 2,500 if you're walking around and doing stuff.

Not true. I know loads of people who lost tonnes of weight from dieting alone.

I was speaking generally, although if they really did lose "tonnes" of weight I would suggest they were too fat to exercise anyway.

If you need a very fast weightloss for an upcoming event try the liver reducing diet but for no more than 7 days. This diet is dangerous and using it for more than 10 days can seriously damage your health. That said, patients who go for gastric surgery use this diet pre-op for a week and lose anywhere between 10 and 20 pounds. A friend of mine used it, said it was a tough diet but the results were astonishing, you literally saw the lard melting off him. :)

It's not just about the input, it's about the output too.

I've also started cutting down my food intake in an effort to shift some flab, but what's more important is that I'm going out for at least two long evening walks each week.

Forget all these fad diets and schemes, the *ONLY* way to lose weight is for your body to use up more calories than you take in each day. Sure cutting the intake helps, but burning up more through exercise helps even more :)

It also helps that it's nice weather for it and nice long evenings :)

Have lost about 4 stone myself doing pretty much the atkin's diet (I'm on my 5th month of it), differences are I restart the induction phase as it were (cycle of ketosis), weekly by eating carbohydrates on thursday evening-friday midnight (one day is ideal). Not the diet for everyone but I've found it very easy :) Initial weight loss was extremely fast, slowed down so I began to excercise too and it's still fast now.
