I've been running it on a DDR Geforce and a celery 550.
Without the beta patch (http://www.deusex.com/downloads/dxd3d.zip)the performance was pretty terrible but with the patch and the latest 6.18 drivers the game zips along quite nicely. Certainly more than playable @ 800x600 32bit with all the options on...
I play it on a p3-450 + tnt2ultra on win2k!! probably the worst framerate combo possible. Yus it lags out in heavy action, but the game doesnt see a lot of enemies in one place and its more about sneaking through areas than charging in blasting.
i heard a lot of complaints bout its hardware requirements and prior to patching up it wud appear this is one of the few occasions my voodoo 3 3000 comes on top of my mates geforces

I'm curious, what games do you think it copies or do you just feel that the conspiracy plot was a little predictable ?
Personally, I cant think of a game that offered as much freedom of how to approach the levels and for that I love it
(Plus I'm a sucker for a conspiracy theory )

I bought it 2 weeks ago - installed it up (running it with a Voodoo3 3000 :E ) and...... have hardly bothered getting past the first few levels. If you like Thief/2 crossed with HL mixed up with a future sci-fi plot...this is the game for you. If not leave it on the shelf. Might just nip off for another bash now tho...
damn good game, the later levels are much better than the first few so stick at it and you will be rewarded
the only down point is the terrible AI, I think this game should of been held back a month or so to "finish" the game
but I suppose they didnt want another diakatanaananaa ..whatever
Cool game and as I was told the first level is the worst, its great in the number of ways u can complete an objective, being quite heavy handed i have loads of the lockpicking/stealth things left and shoot all the nme to nick their keys. But hide under a desk for a minute or two and the guards decide that you didn't shoot their best mate who was standing right next to them, or maybe they didn't like them that much and u did them a favour, even so they have their next cig break on their own Still great game for someone (like myself) who's offline a lot.
I'm running the same system as speccy here, complete with patch and i must say the gfx and speed is very disappointing, the UT engine has gotta be the worst around and god knows why ion picked it. Aside from that the gameplay aint bad although the guards are sooo thick, as with the latter post, they just ignore ya after 2mins if you do nothing....I love the bits aswell where your crouched in the open, with no cover and yet they walk straight past me as if im not there, heh, realism, duh yeah! ;-)
Not a bad game i dont think but certainaly doesnt live up to the hype imho...oh, a little tip...never start the game with untrained pistol skill, takes around 6 shots to kill a damn enemy :\
I suggest not to buy it if you have a GL card though, this is one for the voodoo fans.
It's a really great game.. Got it on release date and played nothing else for a fortnight.
The UT engine isn't great but it works.
Had to upgrade my celly with extra ram...
I've a celly 500 now with 128mb and the intel 810 graphic's chippy set.
64mb was slow... 128mb run's reasonably fast.
The D3D works far better in DX than in UT, that is if you get the patch, but i guess that's just my chipset.
Deus Ex is the best single player game I have played since Doom 2. Nothing has sucked me in as much as the Deus Ex world has.
The slowdown that Geforce people are experiencing believe it or not has NOTHING to do with the UT engine. Its a problem with nVIDIA chips. UT and Deus Ex run faster on my Rage Fury (with creaky old Rage 128 chip residing) in D3D than me m8s Geforce 2. Not that that bothers me too much as I still have SLI plugged in for 70fps at 1024x768 loveliness
IMO the Unreal / UT engine still makes everything look nicer than the quake series of engines ever could (This is not an attempt at a UT vs Q3 flame war, that got boring about 6 months ago), and gives games the kind of look that Deus Ex needs. Now if only the GEP gun could fire 6 rockets at a time.......
I ghotta agree with Bods on this one. (please dont kill me).
lots of people have said that the UT engine was "slabby" and flat compared to Q3a, which is all very well, but it hsd a very "industrial" natyure about it, and so it does suit Deus Ex very well indeed.
I am completely unbiased btw. As my PC spec consists of a 166, VII and 32 meg o Ram. - therefore I 1) Do not own a Geforce and 2) Have nerv played Deus Ex - how unbiased is that?
(you'll notice that my views are purely graphical - based on screenies and movies)
