Hi, can someone help me please. I'm having problem's with the NVidia driver detonator that I downloaded.

The driver is "28.32_winme" that I download from the NVidia website.

The problem is when I install the driver and reboot my PC and Windows ME load's, I get the following error message.

"RUNDLL
Error in NvQTwk
Missing entry:NvCplDaemon"

I get this error message every time I reboot and Widnows ME load's.

My system spec is as follow's :-

AMD Duron 800mhz
128RAM
GeForce2MX 100/200 32MB
Windows ME
Basic VIA Soundcard

Oh and I dont have any Virus software running when I download or install the driver.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thank's.

Isn't NvQTwk the NVMax service ?

As Kenny said, have you installed an NVidia tweak tool and rather than remove via 'Add/Remove Programs' simply deleted the directory ? If so, you need to re-install the app and remove via the Control Panel, or use something like Norton Utilities to remove the registry entry.

no

I dont have any Tweak software prog's running. I dont use any.

I've tried everything and posted on other forum's.

But nothing seem's to work. Load's of other ppl ave been getting it aswell, and I'm conceded to the fact that the Detonator Driver is simply not compatible with my system spec.

So I have just formatted my HDD and installed the original driver that I got with the GeForce2 card.

Work's fine now. And in the future I'll know not to DL the latest graphic's driver's. :)

Ta's anyway.

Matt.

Drivers don't normally have that probably to be honest...you really should try some newer drivers than the ones on the CD, even go to the manufacturers website of your card and get their latest.

lol

True, but I tried installing a, ahem unofficial copy of Win XP and it fux0red up. So I'm not a big fan of installing pirate shit on ma puta.

And I'm saving up for a whole upgrade, so aint got the money right just now to get Win XP.

Windows 98SE knocks the pants off Windows ME from a gaming perspective, and even from a reliability perspective. I run 98SE smoothly on my machine with very few problems, yet ME crashes all the time on me mates higher spec machines ;)

XP is a good option, but its not the best for games as its 2k based, rather than ME being 98 based, for pure gaming purposes get 98SE, if your not that fussed about ub3r gaming performance and have a high end machine you may as well get XP as itll make bugger all diff ;)

Just dont use ME.

Ok,

The problem arises because nVidia shipped the driver without the control panel files initially - so I suggest you download a new copy of the driver from nVidia.com to resolve your problems.

The detonator XP UDA is one of the most flexible driver platforms in existance, there are no documented issues as to system incompatibility but there are problems with boards using VIA chipsets (dodgy VIA GARTs(graphics adapter remap tables)) but that only has a performance implication...

As to performance nVidia cards now outperform an identical installation under XP than the likes of 2000, ME or 98/SE - this is mainly due to the fact the OS natively supports a lot of the hardware (and DX8) rather than doing piles of work under emulation...
