Hi,

As has already been said, the BlackHawk is by far the easier helicopter to practice flying on. It's slower than the Hind or the Apache, and thus you're not gonna make to big of a mistake by doing something wild with the controls.

What needs to be remembered, helis aren't like jets. The throttle is not your speed. With the helicopters you need to be very 'light' on the controls, unlike a jet which you can throw around and not have any ill-effects, a heli will likely spin to the ground.

The throttle gains you altitude, so, the more throttle (or collective) you have, the more altitude you'll have. The way you actually move forward is to tip the nose of the heli below the horizon. You'll then gain speed. The more your nose is below the horizon the faster you'll gain speed. Obviously, pointing your nose at the ground is only going to end in tears. So, you have to adjust the collective, and increase it until you're flying at the same altitude (not gaining or losing any). What this means is you can fly with your nose pointing towards the ground and still keep the same height from it (I do this a lot and scare my co-pilot).

So, what about losing that speed and bringing it into the hover? Well, if you put your nose down to gain speed, doesn't take a genius to work out what you have to do to lose it :D Pulling back on the cyclic (the stick), and raising your nose above the horizon will allow you to bleed off the speed. Again, the more you nose is above the horizon, the more you lose your speed. You'll also have to adjust the collective in order to keep at the same altitude (pulling the nose up will make you climb, so you have to reduce the amount of throttle you have). What you must be careful of here is losing all your forward speed, but not putting your nose down quick enough to the horizon so you start to move backwards. Moving backwards + low collective = crash. You'll start moving backwards into the ground. So basically, when you want to stop, pitch the nose around 10 degrees up, you'll then gradually lose the speed. Once you feel like you're not moving forward anymore, put the nose back down onto the horizon (I know its hard with no instruments), and you'll be in a hover, now its just a matter of slowly bringing the collective down, so you land perfectly. The more proficient you get at this, the faster you can lose the speed, and the quicker you can land.

Hope this helps. If you ever wanna jump on a server, I'd be happy to come with you and help you out.

Cheers.

Ive ad a practice and i found my controls were too sensitive and as its so different from the jets u were right you just have to tickle the controls. Thanks 4 the tip
