Desert Combat 0.5

The Desert Combat Web Site web site reports that patch 0.5 will be released on the 7th. Anybody know if this is still going to happen. No news either way on their site to confirm or deny it.

When will game be getting it on FTP ?

CDr You have any info on this ?

Just been to the DC web site and 0.5 is available for download.

They have also released 0.5 dedicated server patches for windows and linux.

All we need now is for Game to put it up on their FTP site.

I downloaded it too, though I couldnt find any servers for it , except game.net, which was empty.
ASE hasnt updated its filter yet, and my own personal Radion problem means whenever I exit BF1942 to the servers / options parts the graphics are badly corrupted and I can't see any servers anyway.

Installation Error

Hi,

Ive got a problem downloading "desertcombat_0.5l_beta_full_install.exe" from both the "Fast" & "UK Subs" FTP.

It only downloads 256 MB then stops .. anyone else had this problem? I have tried this a couple of times but same problem.


When I run the exe I get the following:

"NSIS Error. Installer corrupted or imcomplete. This could be be the result of a failed download or corruption from a virus. If desperate, try the /NIRC comand line switch (NOT recommended)"

.. Now I know this error is because of the imcomplete download.

It's strange, people have been downloading it no problems, others have had roughly the same errors as you. I haven't a clue what to do - I think it *may* haven been uploaded again, not sure.

I didnt have a problem with the download

Keep trying is my advice. It jammed on 83% for me, tried again with no problems.

try using a download manager like getright, that will stop you getting broken downloads .

The file is downloading fine from the point of view of not breaking up, it's downloading at 73.2KB/Sec and has been continuously.

AFAIK GetRight is still spyware ridden, I recommend Download Mage for a spyware free shareware product.

Re: Installation Error

This seems to be a recurring problem with the ftp. I've had my last two large downloads cut out about 20% from the end. Can resume in flashfxp but it's still pretty annoying.

Don't ask me what's causing it tho.

There seems to be a graphics problem with nVidia graphics cards using the latest drivers, visuals are screwed. I'm not sure if rolling back to the last ones would help, I have yet to download this version of DC due to it's size to test it.

Suddenly Vanilla BF is looking a whole lot better.

I can confirm that the graphics are messed up with the latest Nvidia drivers. Will roll back and give it a test will let you know if it fixes the problem.

Well I just ran DC .5 with my old drivers, 2.8.3.2 I think (yeah old),on my Ti4200 GeFarce 4. Visuals are fine, no problems at all, runs as smooth as smoothness itself.

"Mage" keeps requesrting my username and password while its downloading the desert combat file. I have selected save password but keeps appearing. I also tried a diferent password and again keeps popping up.

The funny thing is, is that when I select "ok" or "cancel" the download continues ? .. with any password/username

any ideas?

It happens with or without getright Ive had to go elsewere to dl it.

not that Ive seen .... not on the prompt that requests username/password or in any of the software options.

I'll keep trying .. most servers for DS are updated for DC.5 .. so I dont wanna be left out
