DECT Phones

Anyone here using DECT phones?

I'm looking to install a couple of base stations with 4 extra handsets (total 6), and have a few questions.

Yep, that's them.

I'm looking to connect 2 base stations to 2 BT lines. I believe the handsets can be registered to both base stations, enabling a call to made on either one (if one is in use for example). The 6 handsets should stop any squabbling at chez Sowat as the missus and I, plus the three kids (aka stroppy post-teenagers who are showing no inclination of making their own way in the world!) should have access to one at any time (the little swines have a tendancy to 'borrow' the handsets permanently).

I'm looking at the Panasonic Answerphone jobby, which looks pretty tasty.

I've had Dect stuff for ages. I'd recommend the Samsung flip phones. Nice piece of kit.

You can't easily switch between base stations to chooose your line because the changeover function involves deregistering from 1 base the then registering on another. It's menu intensive and takes a while as it swaps secuity ID's.

we have loads. they seem easy to administrate, but then I'm just a user when it comes to them.

the BT sets are generally the best, being in luck, i used to sell cordless phones, Diverse 2015's were the rage when i was around selling them, a little pricey with the answerphone but the basic without the a/p could take up to 8 handsets easily. Fully DECT compliant and the handsets are VERY easy to obtain seperately and later on if you need. Also the components such as batteries are much easier to come across when the time comes. Samsung, sorry to say, are flawed and used to be very unreliable, unsure what they are like these days but I doubt they are much better. Go the extra step and get one of the later range BT Diverse kits.

I had the BT (Seimens) system and it was crap in use, un(in, im?)-ergonomic then it died after a couple of months. The Samsung kit I have now is fine.
