Decisions...

It was yet another of those days: Albs had 4 keeps in Hib yesterday, Hibs had 4 keeps in Alb, 100 hibs were out to kill Legion and a few groups were trying to keep the frontier tidy.
Then, seeing that we had lost so many keeps someone mentions the relic, and immediately the whole /as-chat turns into a big discussion about what to do. People were making proposals ( good and bad ones), people jumped to conclusions, others got annoyed... the usual stuff anyway, without it leading to any kind of solution.
Personally i get pretty annoyed and bored about this kind of discussions (wasn't the first time this happened), and imo it clearly shows what we are missing: Leadership. I think we need someone ( or a set of people) who decide in those "crisis"-situations. Maybe 5 people who set up a cg, quickly(!) discuss what to do, and then give the decisions to the rest of the realm/alliance.
Of course this group ( lets call it "war-council" for now ;)) should be generally known and especially accepted by all as Leaders in those rare but important situations.
Well, maybe i should have posted this on the alliance-boards, but i think this matters to the whole realm and should be discussed here, so go ahead, give your opinion: do we need it, and if, who could be those people to trust our fate to ? Discuss!

maybe

if gonna do it. Let the Alliance leader guild take the responsibility. That means CF get a leader in ur guild to take charge when such amount of discusions happens. Why that beacause ur leader of the Alliance I think.

i think harle is looking for a more democratic solution than simply "Celtic Fist are alliance leader, Celtic Fist tell everyone what to do". that wont solve any arguments over /as.

Sounds like a good idea to me tho. 5 people from different guilds with influence over their guilds (ie. not someone you all dislike intensely - preferably someone people will listen to) immediately discussing the pros and cons would make matters alot less confusing, get more done in the short term and generally make /as a happier place :)

hope we can find 1 in hib then, nevermind 5 :p

i don't think liking the leaders is particularly important, just so long as people think that the leaders have the experience to make the correct decisions, and will listen to them

if the leadership is too concerned with being liked then they might end up making crap decisions to retain popularity (like allowing a legion raid to go on instead of calling for a mass-suicide to defend against a possible relic attempt :p )

but yes, we definitely need some leadership imo - i don't really care who does it as long as enough people listen to him/her/them

I've not been in the CF allliance for long, but I have noticed that there's more people clashing on /as than in the CBH /as; on CBH /as people come to an agreement much quicker, but on the downside that alliance wouldn't be able to muster as big a force as the CF alliance could methinks. CF alliance could sure use people to make the call in a crisis situation, but more important I think that CF /as is used for arguments and sarcasm etc too much. I think all the guilds would be better served with facts and decisions than with opinions and arguments. If someone posts something which I think may be wrong or a bad call, I pm those people. I've seen it happen that people just get attacked over /as, which I think is the worst thing you can do, especially in a crisis situation.

So I think what we need is people sticking to facts over /as, and if they feel like a decision needs to be made that could have a big impact (like ordering mass suicide at Legion when albs take Scathaig and nged simultaneously), they should just use /as to state that they're making a cg for people who want something to say something about the actions to be taken.

For instance: if there's a crisis situation and I see people yelling all kind of stuff over /as, I select one or more people who I think are making sense and could help control the situation, and either pm them or get them into a cg. If there's mixed opinions, I'll follow a CF officer because CF is the alliance leader - and I think they have some of the most experienced players. I don't really mind to follow a designated leader even if I disagree btw; I'd rather live with the consequences of a bad call than argue and not make a decision at all. If I follow someone, I just make sure to supply that person with all the info I can get my hands on.

As for agreeing on people as predetermined leaders... Can't say I've seen enough people over CF /as to have a good picture of who knows how to control a crisis situation, but I've seen Danita do some good stuff and I've seen Asmodan handle things quite well in CBH /as. If things look bad and I see either one of them yelling orders, my experience is that I can trust them to solve things, so I don't need to start shouting myself - other way around I've found them willing to be supportive when I do the yelling, which is also nice ( ;
