They didn't have any other way they could end it, not without having a much larger budget.

You don't need any more cash than they had to make a better ending. Most zombie films have a couple of survivors going off into what we assume is saftey via whatever transport they can get hold of. Simple and cheap but I wonder what actually makes a good ending.

I would have thought there would have been a heli-pad in the studio grounds and maybe they could have got away or more akin to 28 days later, in a van and driving up north. I dunno just feel it coul dhave been done better or at the very least had something running through the credits that implies Humanity is surviving somewhere.
