DC Q3 players against PC Q3 players?

I've heard that the DC players will be able to play the PC owners of the superb Quake 3. Is this right? Will I be able to host matches so that my DC friends can play on it?

Hmm, interesting question. If you have sufficient bandwidth I suppose it depends on how they maintain compatibility with owners of the DC version of the game.

Will they freeze patching once the DC version is available so a PC user would have to unpatch to be compatible? Would ID agree to stop further development of Q3 as part of the DC deal?

Also, Sega seems to expect DC users to only access the Internet through their dedicated dialup. There is a possibility that they will want PC users to do this as well with their own connection client - If this did happen I would not expect it to make running a server very easy. Some large companies idea of Net access is pretty different to ours.

Dunno, we have limited info at the moment. Wait and see what they announce I spose.

DC owners are gonna be pretty pissed off when they find out from the PC players who keep spanking em that they need to go out and buy the DC keyboard/mouse combo to be at all competitive.

DC useres in the States can use any compatable dialup they want
It seems that the UK market is limited to Segas own connect

I happen to be pc/dc owner and can clarify there will be no spanking going on - sorry to disapoint :)
Anyhows i can pretty much agree that there will be alot of problems with the online aspects. Particularly due to the slow access of Segas' servers and to the limited browser capabitilty - no more so than in europe.

oh well it was a nice idea
: )
