What is the database server hostname @ barrysworld ?
And how can I make a DSN ? I need this to make my forum work.

U can't access the barrysworld server, they don't allow MySQL hosting !!! sorry try www.lycos.co.uk

Then why do they say they support MySQL ? It's in the features-list !

There was a MySQL trial for those who applied for it; BW have never offered MySQL support as standard. And you can only access a "trial" database from a BarrysWorld hosted site.

Basically, yeah.

If it wasn't for a forum you could always have got a DB at PortlandSQL - www.portlandsql.co.uk but unless you find somewhere else or if BW offers MySQL as standard you're stuck.

why not host your forums on a place that offer's mysql and then just link to it from your BW site?

Mind you, may be easier just to move

When everyone thinks of lycos for free web hosting they shug their heads and eeeekkk !
but thats from memorys of lycos's free webhosting about 2 years ago,

Now they give u:- 50mb webspace
PHP4
MySQL
FTP upload
Built in ftp
built in myPHPadmin (very usefull)

so y not check out www.lycos.co.uk and sign up 2day ?

That's the first I've heard of it not that I need it as my BW space with MySQL enabled is fine for me atm.

Useful to know for the future though.
