Dark corners literally dark

In CS, ive hit this problem now were all the corners which are in shadows are completely dark. I dont know if its just CS its effecting, because dark colours on the desktop do seem to be a bit darker as well.

Its since i got my new TFT screen, everything is set fine in CS, gamma is up, and the screen is really bright, but... not dark areas, for instance on Dust2 the little corner were CT Spawn is, i cant see ANYTHING, so ive had the shit scared out of me on several occasions

There are a lot of areas on CSS that are a lot darker than in CS. I've always had a colour settting that is slightly brighter than my standard desktop for CS. Even with my brighty desktop setting in CSS there are areas I cannot see into. My point is it might not be your setup, and could possibly just be the changes in CSS.

I think its more to do with the screen itself than it is the game, as websites which are darker look a lot more darker as well, gamma and stuff is set right up on CS, so i cant think were the problem could be

I'm failing to see the problem with dark corners actually being dark, that's how they're sposed to be.

have yer turned im game brightness and gamma up?

Ya everything is set to maximum in game, everywhere is really bright apart from in those dark areas...

But as i say, i think it maybe also effecting things in Windows because the screen on a whole seems darker with, obviously, darker colours, but then, extremely bright if i turn up Gamma etc.

Ive got the brightness/contract on my monitor itself set to 50/50, otherwise it gets too bright or dark to see anything

Nahhh, aint, of course its meant to be dark yes, but on my old CRT monitor, there was a hint of light were it wasnt absolute pitch black.

You can usually see an outline of a person hiding in the dark areas but now, i walk past coz it "looks" clear (very dark) and get the shits scared out of me when someone somehow runs behind me as im taking a pot-shot ;o

Thing is, Gray's screenshots look ok to us, because we have the correct settings. There are no pitch black areas on those images for me Gray.

Altho now heheh, out of the game everything is super bright, like the forum colour is super bright green

It sounds to me like the black level on your monitor is too low. Brightness will push it up, but you may need to investigate some other settings.
