But it was a while since i checked their site and had not seen the movies. Hotdamn that physics engine rocks, to see that kinda realism in a mmorpg is awesome

And the landscapes... breathtaking. The resolution leaves something to be desired but im guessing alot of textures are still placeholders and not completed, since there seemed to be some that were very detailed and some not at all in the e3 trailer.

DnL looks great but I wonder how they'll manage to fill this huge world they are creating. They seems to be focused on their graphic & physic engine and I fear that their world will be "empty" (few quests, contents, etc). Well we'll see next year I guess!

What I've read on their homepage and on the forums it looks like most will be focused around PvP with a similar system as daoc, which envolve keep taking and such. So questing might not be a priority for the game designers, but I don't know..

200 Servers are currently based in Paris forming the DnL Cluster, however I really don't think they use Opentransit as Uplink, there are many more carriers that shine through better connectivity especially on a international level, regarding Technology:

www.bigworldtech.com is servertechnology from Microforte being able to support several 100000 users on the same World through clustering and cell phone network (same principle as with cell phones) really interesting read (So no ghost servers anymore, all play on the same world, which is really how mmorpg should work)
and
http://www.vworldpowered.com/ is the world engine (is being used by the us military as well for their military simulations) an interesting read as well - especially this interview http://www.mt2-kmi.com/articles.cfm?DocID=726

If their webservers are at the same place where the dnl cluster is located, Cogent seems to be the carrier and they are either at the telehouse 2, Redbus or ldcom interexchange facilities of AS 29415 Ovanet/Eurowan within Paris, So luckily, no Opentransit to fear. If I interpret my tracer logs right.

I recall something about decapitations in this game, but I can't find anything now :<
Dragon riding, hang-gliding, parachuting and decapitations is probably too much to ask for

Some of the screenshots look amazing, I hope the characters models/skins will look better at release to match the landscape! So long as the gameplay isn't a disaster, it's definately on my list! btw, does anyone recognise the tune used in the parachute movie?

Reunion Island is a french oversea region. I doubt they're going to base their servers there because it's lost in the middle of Indian Ocean.

So it will be like a kind of DAOC where everyone can do a /level50 to directly go RvR ? Might be interresting.

some tihngs so far i noticed that sounds good:

some things that make it stand out from other mmorpgs so far:

It will be possible to form official duets (husband and wife). These duets will have access to particular skills, such as teleportation to each other

A player not respecting the code of honour (A voluntary attack on a much weaker opponent outside a "declared conflict") will turn "Wanted" and will be made unwelcome. When on this 'wanted list' you'll find yourself with a price on your head, and head-hunters at any level can go after you (aka in DAoC as Gray ganking

)

There will be 'stuns' and 'mez' spells; however, these will have no effect in PvP. They will only be useable in PvE (nice idea

)

The layer of snow builds up according to how much snow has fallen; similarly, it melts according to temperatures. To make things more realistic, each type of object on the ground has its own snow roughness coefficient. As an example, snow melts less quickly on grass than it does on rock

3 Epic Quests per character class. Complete set of dress and weapons per quest

i cant view that bloody clip.

keep getting codec error. and afaik i have all the relevant codecs.. divx windows media 9 etc etc etc...

why does it always have to be "realistic"!!

if i want realism i go outside fgs

givf less realism in the games! i get enough of that IRL

/edit: and PLEASE tell me that u will be able to sheet(SP?) the weapon and not have to run around always holding it in ur hand... (looking at a screeny with a tank standing around just holding the sword)

No, they said release date is 30th April 2005 recently. I read it on the official forums.

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - VLC Media Player, will play 99% of all movies and if you install ac3filter there wont be a movie you cant see. Recomend it warmly.

This is the game I've been waiting for... It sounds so cool that I'm afraid it could very well be a huge let-down...

The game is so huge... I hope they balance everything and that the content is cool... And... More importantly that the leveling grind aint too bad...

Hope more info comes out on the PvP system though, and the death system... I dont like losing items when I die...

Loosing items aint a biggie mate. It was the same in Asherons Call 1.
Thankfully all you had to do was get your corpse back to reclaim the items.
If it was in a place where you couldnt get it back then you just had to go to the vendors and try and find replacements.
Might take you a day or so and you gonna be outa pocket a fair whack but it made you SERIOUSLY consider the consequences of death and the game was better off for it
