DAOC outside EU

For those of you who are interested where we could get more players on the Brittish servers this Distribution policy might be of some interest :

- DaoC isnt marketed outside EU/US , all webstores do not deliver it outside EU/US .

< so all potential clients currently cannot get hold of the bloody game >

Taking my homecountry for example :

- Most people who are interested in playing cant get hold of the game
- Some dont give it a go due to paying methods. Ie only 60% have credit cards.
- A really good lot of people express interest in platying it.
- To get it through unofficial distributor costs 69.99 usd plus delivery cost....
- All press releases dedicated to daoc show that people love it and get addicted to the game
- English is a preferred language. Out of the given 3.

Why on Earth not do that... market it say at least in Moscow : 13 million population of which prolly 5.000 odd will be willing to play.
Most people i know have to play Diablo II due to this.

No credit card? The adolescent D2 fanboys mm? The marketing of Euro DAOC has been worthless from the start though, apparently they did some advertising in Germany but that's about it.

aye I would like to see some advertising... and I dont know why they would need to advertise in germany, dont they have enough german players on the servers?

Not sure how accurate this is.....

The Italians run their own servers, outside of GOA's jurisdiction and the Koreans have now got their own servers too.
A friend at Singnet told me Singapore would be getting their own servers very soon.

How many UK people bought DAoC from a store and not online?
I have seen a grand total of 7 DAoC boxes in stores, 6 of them were on release day.
Don't know what it was like in other european countries, but distibution in UK seemed appalling to me.

GOA/Wanadoo phucked up the release. They didnt manage to ship boxes all over EU. Loads of my friends including me had to IMPORT the game from UK/Denmark etc.

I bought mine from the store on the day of release, they had loads of copies and there are still some on the shelves. Guess I was lucky.

Still in the stores as I speak as I bought a copy as a leaving present for a mate. (Best way to stay in touch as Im always online anyway!)

Maybe its where you live? I live in Manchester so not exactly out in the sticks when it comes to shopping.

On the point of getting other "english as a second language" nations to join I think its a good idea but what do Mythic/GOA care?

Growth of user base seems VERY far down their list of goals.
