DAOC Icon, but nothing, Help!!

Right guys, Help me please, just reinstalled Camelot on my new computer and downloaded the 707mb update to v1.71 , When i try double clicking the DAOC icon on my desktop it just doesnt do anything whatsoever, not even load up the login screemn, i heard its something to do with parameters in the update.dat, HELP! ! lol thanks

My advice? remove the game

Delete c:\toa (or whatever directory you installed the game to) Then try a R&R, worked fine for me when i had the same problem

Or the quick way is to get the core files from someone (user.dat, update.dat and the game executable)

Ignore naffets

Right-click the daoc icon, choose properties and set the <start in> field (under the Shortcut tab) to your game directory (D:\Games\Toa or something similar)

Two things are likely wrong here.
First, your shortcut is broken. Try doubleclicking on the camelot.exe in your install directory. If that works then delete the desktop shortcut and create a new one (rightclick on camelot.exe and choose Send To -> Desktop (create shortcut))
Second option is that your login.dat or update.dat is broken somehow.
If you're using the ToA client, yoru update.dat should look like this:

and your login.dat should look like this:

You'll find those two files in your installation directory. Open them using any text editor such as Notepad or Word and cut and paste the ones I've given here. Make sure there are no spaces at the end of any lines though or it will not work.

Thanks for all your help guys, but i havent got TOA installed yet just classic version as i got a new PC and cant find SI and TOA disks lol I will have to buy them, You know the login.dat or update.dat for classic version?
Also i don't really want to have to reinstall and download the 700 meg update for the third time lol

And there I think is the problem.
The Classic client is no longer supported. You need the SuperClassic client which you can download for free from the Goa site under the 'downloads' heading.
You can also download the ToA client from there so if you already have it activated on your account, you don't need to buy it again.
