I don't know if this link have been posted before, but if your interested in seeing some of the changes for a future in a year or two... *cogh*..*cogh*.. GOA ..*cogh*

http://www.petget.com/roundtable.html

Note: Remember to keep 1 char slot open if you want to play a new race/class. The code change to expand the character slots beyond 4 will be too "massive". (Expensive in other words) :(

Well at least we'll have something to look forward too

I would still like to know if they will allow a respec on the trade skill once the new ones are released. As this has not realy been confirmed. But still it all sounds to be a very nice addition.

trade respec will be allowed, but you will have to drop down to 0.

<ie, if you are 999 armourcraft, you can respec to make spellcraft your main craft, but armour = 0, and spell = 0>

It's not THAT bad.

Armourcrafting and spellcrafting would be set to 1 when you respec. :p

Nice little article on the expansion. Hope we will get to see some ingame pics and movies soon to give us an impression.

Pfft, some pretty stupid program design by Mythic then...

Expanding the character slots to more than 4 should be about as much work as changing 4 to 6/8 in 2 places, and redesigning the character screen a bit. I'd say it would almost take an hour to implement :p

yeh other games can do it like UO and EQ so why not Mythic ?
Seems odd to me .

Necromancing isnt allowed in albion according to some quest...lvl 20 minstrel epic or something...

Necromancy is the background to the entire set of academy (wizard sorc mins) epic quests - necromancy is said to have been shunned by them, and any who chose to follow its' path were cast out. Personally, when Mythic announced that the new classes for each realm were going to reflect that realm's darker side, necromancy seem edthe obvious choice for Albion.

Necros sound like cleric/merc/theurg hybrid... pretty cool if you ask me :)

Other info about the reaver was that they will be able to use scythes... dedicated 2h slash weapons methinks, similar to the friar's quarterstaff.

A lot of DAoC is 'hard coded', meaning any change to certain parts of the game is nigh on impossible to do quickly and easily.

Pretty stupid I know, that's one of the reasons why everything takes so long to implement or Mythic state it can't be implemented.

It isn't a matter of just changing a few numbers around and drawing a new character screen, it'd involve a lot of man hours Mythic just can't afford to waste on a functioning part of the game.

It's their fault though for crappy design, it SHOULD be an hours worth of a job.......but it isn't. :(

Isn't 20/20 vision wonderful. An hours work lol. And you base this guesstimate on your intimate knowledge of the nuts and bolts of daoc ? No, I didn't think so. Rest assured, if it took junior programmer 1 hour to make the change, Mythic would have done it. The fact that they havn't means that it is sufficiently complex that it would mean a major change to some fundamental daoc code.

Also, think about it like this. Imagine how much information is stored server side about 1 character. Stats, items, quests, gamestate, etc..etc.. It may seem insignificant for 1 character. Now multiply that amount of data stored by 4 (chars per realm), then by 2 (there are 2 UK servers). That is how much data is stored server side for 1 account holder. If you add 4 more slots, you potentially double this figure per account holder. Now multiply that figure by 30000(EU) and 200000(US) or so to determine how much physical disk space is required to host 8 chars per realm/per server for each and every account holder. This could be another reason why Mythic are reluctant to make a change that non-techies naively call a '1 hour change'.

Look at the bigger picture...

Why respec 1 chars crafting skill when you have 3 others to craft with? Or am I missing something?

Why should I role for two caster if I want to do spellcrafting ?
When I got one already at 400 tailoring and never knew about spellcraft. If I did I would of stayed away from trade skills till they came out.

So to hear that they are going to allow a respec is good news for me as that means I can now free up my last character slot for either the new rece or another class.

WEEE tis is straight of the herald , looks like we might get more char slots after all

3)Doubling of available character slots. Based on both user demand and the fact that we have an expansion pack coming out soon, it seems prudent to increase the number of slots available to the characters. We have worked out the technical issues involved with this, and thus, we are going from four to eight!
