daoc + directx 9

Just got invited to eve beta, and eve requires u have directx9 - so (me running 8.1) i upgrade to dx9 - now eve runs fine, all my other 3d games run fine, but in daoc my computer resets itself without warning after playing 7 minutes ingame, each time it's after 7 minutes.

any ideas?


anyone know a good uninstaller for dx9 ?

edit: system this is happening on is:

amd duron 1.2ghz
512 pc133 ram
geforce 4 4600ti (128mb)

& SI client

ps: never had problems with si client before installing dx9

DX9 has known issues with MMORPG, as i see it you've got a few choices here,

* Goto http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx {may need to copy/paste} and download the latest DX version 9.0a which apparently resolves the known issues of DX 9.0

* Uninstall operating system and start all over again

* If you created a "Restore" {like youre supposed to when installing DX/SP's} use this to revert back to DX 8.1


Note you cannot revert DX versions unless using a restore or complete rebuild {according to microcrap neway}

I'm still using DX 8.1, I don't intend to upgrade to 9.0, but may upgrade to 9.0a if it seems to work for others

actually i manged to sort it out - turns out it wasnt dx9, it was the new nvidia drivers - id downloaded the latest drivers just before installing dx9 - when I rolled back the drivers (for my gf4) and restarted comp, the problem never reoccured.
