daoc beta and retail went LIVE

Need some info, when did daoc beta go live here in EU? and when did they launch the "real" game in EU?

went live in 17 may 2002

all servers were suppose to be live in the end of april, but the english servers got delayed by ~2weeks

(edited to 2003. then back to 2002)


hmmm... or was it suppose to go live in the end of feb and went live in mars? goddamnit now you got me wondering about this

If I remember correctly, the EU Open Beta started on November 29 2001.

went live in france in february 2002 - not sure on the date - a week later the german servers opened and a week after the english servers opened.

I think the US live date was october 2001.

Yep, thats pretty damn close to what it was.

or, must have been 13th then, as it is wednesday, I was praying to get the game as they wasnt alloved to send it out from the stores untill the game was released, and it managed to get to the post office next to me by friday but it got in to late so they didnt pass out the note they had it untill on monday and I was QQ'ing all weekend long

Beta was started up in november or december 2001, personally i played on the Beta server Excalibur/MID from 7th January.

Former guildmaster and council decided to move our guild to Prydwen on release, and I was then on Prydwen / Mid from release. I am not sure about the release date, but if Heta say 17th March 2002 i believe him

In any case those are the original *intended* release dates. I'm quite sure the Mythic press release is correct.

My first play was on 15/02/2002 according to my subs, and Im sure the english servers went live on the wednesday and my copy from game was 2 days late, so I would say 13/2/2002 seems reasonable.

October 2001 sounds right for beta too, so it wasnt really the right date for a birthday.

From what I was told it is only for people who subbed before 21st March 2002, not sure if they intend to let that roll or extend it in anyway but I don't think they did on U.S. servers

Ahhh the good ole days, when Myrkwood (yes you remember that place!) was filled with the sounds of people spamming "whats a fecking quickbar?" and "weapon style???".

Of course with the event of ebay, these sounds can still be heard in Uppland on a regular basis.
