This has been said before any number of times.

But an observation from a shopping trip this morning....

My local GAME currently allows you to buy

EQ
UO
SWG
Eve

All in store - two dozen copies of eve on the shelf in fact.

No copies of daoc. No copies of ToA.

Just an observation.

Same here. I searched about 4 shops that sell PC games, including Game and PCWorld.

In the end i had to order daoc off Amazon

I think this is a UK issue, mostly. Availability has always been very poor in the UK. I haven't seen a copy of DAOC since I bought my own copy of ToA on release day and it was the same with SI.

Always been an issue - not going to change now, I guess.

I don't know how hard it would be but I think that it is about time DAoC classic at least was available in download version, perhaps in 3/4 stages for about £5. Then download si and toa for an extra fiver each.

Would help distribute the game very quickly and efficiently.

PC Zone this month (UK mag) had competition giving away TOA, plus interview with Matt Frior from Mythic. Next month has full review of TOA. A little behind, but atleast its some coverage.

I live in Manchester, one of the U.K's largest cities. None of the major retailers have *any* stock in for either DAoC/ToA/SI. My brother spent 5 hours last week trying to get a copy and was told that there was no stock in the shops, the only availabilty was from the website.

Just my observation :p

Seems to me that the UK suffers from very poor distributing when it comes to daoc.

I live in Belgium and I can count the game shops where I haven't seen daoc on the shelves on 1 hand.
Most shops even have the classic daoc, SI, ToA, classic+SI+ToA and recently I've seen the collectors edition with classic+SI+ToA and with a medallion and a wax sealing kit and a bonus cd in it (don't ask me why they include a wax sealing kit, maybe to seal the game so you stop playing it :) )

ToA hasn't been flying off the shelves in the US other than at launch. A $10 (1/3 discount) less than 3 months after launch doesn't seem to have helped. This cannot have encouraged retailer to 'stock up' on DAoC.

Planes of Discord (EQ) was the number 1 best selling PC game in February according to the industry sampling - same one that Mythic quotes by way of comparison.

Its going to be a tough year as well. Game magazine just delivered has Tabula Rasa on its cover + 11 page spread - new forthcoming mmorpg from Lord British.
Inside there is a 4 page fold-out advertisement for The Saga of Ryzom. Next two pages are for Ragnarok Episaode V. Theres a 1 page Horizons advert next to the contents. 3 pages for CoH (loads of fun). EQ2 has 2 pages (coming soon). 3 pages for Lineage2 with a great spread (looking seriously big) . And Mythic have 2 pages advertising their free download - won't get copies on the shelf.

Won't attract new players if you don't have shelf presence.
