Just had reply from a job application that I made in April this year. Didn't get the job as the regional positions had been filled, but the dood offered me some freelance work or rather he was hoping that I would play the role of a citizen journalist or as he put it freelance (he doesn't really understand the concept). Where I go out and then submit work without it being asked for, and if they use it then they would pay for it.

Errr, no it doesn't work like that, well not for me anyway. Replied to them and told them that I only do 'commissioned' work from an editor, else it's a waste of my time. Commissioned work at least guarantees payment. They did say however that if a position arises they would contact me in the future.

So overall not that bad and pretty much what I expected given the recession.

The job involved writing articles for a magazine for 11-16 year old kids. Oh yeah, sure I am gonna start hanging around schools for the hell of it just to find news stories and because some dood suggested that I should write stuff about schools that would interest that age group. Alarm bells automatically start ringing in my head with the pae word smacked all over my forehead. Errr..........NO!
