I don't see what the big deal is. Put big fuckoff warnings "this cinema has signal blockers, your mobile phone will NOT work", and what's the problem. If people need to be contactable, don't bloody go there?

Even if possession and/or use of a signal blocker is illegal, the ban on mobile phones (assuming that it's warranted), could be incorporated into the terms and conditions of the ticket purchase (although no doubt there would be a Human Rights test case...)

I don't understand it at all. If I go out, or to a movie whatever I find it a hassle to bring my phone and would rather leave it at home.
yesterday evening I went to see X2 with some mates. During the 15 minute break, about half way through the movie I noticed that about every third person had a phone out and was happily yapping away to their friends/lovers/mothers/dogs about whaever. why can't they just shut up for a while? perhaps I'm getting old, but surely they can just leave the phone off for the two hours it takes the average movie to pass?


edit: even worse: I once was out to dinner with a lady friend of mine, when she noticed a couple seated nearby and told me about them. the bloke was talking to his lady while she had her phone in her lap and was texting away. fgs :/ are you out for a quiet dinner for two and some severe shagging later or are you out for a quite dinner while texting your mates how dull your man of the evening is and that the salad sucks?

aye, most cinemas here have a wee break so peeps can get a drink/go to the loo/have a fag and stuff. some don't though. iirc the pathe cinemas don't.
