Please can someone tell me how much the strength of a melee character such as a paladin affects the damage that is being caused.
I know that slash is affected by the str but how much does having 100 str versus 150 str affect the damage?

loads of factors comes into play:

DPS
Swingspeed of weapon
Your final swingspeed
Bonus on weapon
toabonuses
quality of weapon
AF you hit on
ABS you hit on
Resists you hit on
Your weaponskill
Relics

to mention a few factors

I thought it was quite simple. Ignoring all other things that might affect your damage, if you would hit something for 100 with 100STR, you would hit it for 150 with 150STR.

Not sure tho :)

different melee chars have dmg based on different things, for example a hunters damage is primarily based on dex whereas a berzerker dmg is primarily based on str.

In general how stats affect weapons:
Axes = all Str
Swords = all Str
Hammers = all Str
Spears = 50/50 Str/Dex
Staffs = all Dex

The formula for damage is
Damage = WeapDmg (which is a possibly capped weapon DPS) * Delay * Quality * Condition * (WeapSkill / Target's AF)

nice spreadsheets to show u exactly how much difference there is between the varius factors

So the real question is how does str affect weapon skill?
I cheated and used haldars weaponskill calculator:
http://haldar.newmail.ru/daoc/ws.html
Its fairly accurate and dont take it to an exact value :)

Hope that helps

(if im wrong do say so :))
