[DAD]s Public Barryserver..........another month??

Howdy EF'rs

As you know some of the [DAD]s chipped in to rent a public Barryserver for during September.

This is about to come to an end and the server will shut down. We are considering keeping it going and have decided to throw it open for other people to chip in if they so wished. This would help to reduce the cost per person.

The server costs £90 per month for a public one with a 16 player max and £95 for an 18 player max.

This may sound bizarre but if anyone would like to chip in a couple of quid for the month it all adds up and helps.

I just thought I would throw it out there for discussion.

If we get some people chipping in we would rename the server so that it represented the EF Community rather than [DAD]. Also we would leave it public 24/7 rather than shutting it down for our clan games etc.

You would also have a say on what map rotation and mods we ran on it and when. We could have a custom map only night every week if people wanted that.

MAS Server is open but votes disabled(some sod kept killserver on it)

Anyone know how to activate votes for maps but not be able to screw server up?

If so that means another FREE server for you guys to use,its only a 10 man server but its better than nothing and has good pings

If any clan wants it private for themselves for practice etc,im sure it can be arranged.

Server is all paid up untill end of December,then hopefully beyond that.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank DAD clan for all they have doen to keep EF gaming alive,TY guys.

As you will have noticed, if you've looked, the server is now down. We have had some interest in getting it back up so if you would like to chip in let me know.

i would help, honestly with the money.......

but at the mo i have no job, and im in college too so i cant get a full time one.... i also have to pay for ADSL each month and when i go out on the piss.... so theres not much left when other things are concerned

but if i can raise and get some extra money i wil try and help u guys out.... and also with the MAS server since im in the clan, lol but yeh this is a good idea.... and err... hoefully see u DAD guys in EF2 ?

As for the server, we will be around with or without it. We are not trying to keep it going just for us but as a 24/7 public for everyone, which is why we threw out out for anyone who wants to.

As for cash, you need to keep a few quid a side for beer, get your priorities right . Once your an old git and not going out on the piss you can spend your beer money on gaming

cheaper to spend 12 quid?

hi guys wouldnt it be cheaper just to splash out 12 quid?
i do think BW needs to make it 12 quid with or without game card that way people living outside the UK can pay the same as us.
at present they aint getting squat from no one.
god i miss playing on BW
but well done dad had a wonderful game yesterday :O) really enjoyed.thank u

There are various things BW could do to help is I recon.

1. Tell us how much they would like to make from the EF servers so we could all work at making them public, even just half of them.

2. As Legs says, reduce the cost to a flat rate for everyone.

3. Get game to add 50p to all PC games sold and use that to support BW.

A. Game could advertise BW in there shops, I have never seen BW advertised in a public place like that, I doubt allot of people know about it and now that you cant see the servers new people will never know. And a couple of servers saying "Barrysworld can't see our servers, see our webby" aint gonna mean allot to new online gamers.

Everytime I check the BW server for EF, Q3, UT, UT2003 & JK2 there are very few or none in there. Its rare that a good game with a good number of people are on the same server. I know it does happen on occasion but not enought to call this a success.

He's hoping a new solution can be found to help BW and the gamers.

Monty, if you need money to keep your server going, ask, i can give you only 30 quid but hopefully that'll keep you going.

All i ask is that when it comes round to the MAS server getting renewed is that ya try to get us some cash too (If possible)

Jolt are about the same for 16 players, but they only allow you to rent for 3 months (which adds up to nearly 200 quid in one go, which is bank crip'ling lol)
