There is nothing wrong with a 1600+. The things which make the difference are RAM, and gfx card.

The main reason why u have lag in daoc because the graphics engine is simply pants... It's has a serious memory leak which is why u have to relog every frikkin' hour. You will hold out longer with a better cpu/ram/gfxcard but it will still leak memory...

SI should fix this tho, still waiting for my copy to reach my pc ;)

upgrading from a GF2 to a GF4 ti4600 did f all, so it iasnt the gfx card that makes a lot of difference (on classic client, still waiting to activate SI :( )

agree theres nothingWRONG with a 1600+ ... but i CAN get better, so why not? :)

Then my next bet would be that you have a shit motherboard, or old BIOS for it and your gfx card is running castrated (e.g. running at AGP1x, or fast writes disabled, or no sideband addessing, or etc, etc, etc).

Make sure you go update all your drivers and BIOS, etc.

never said my comp lagged :)

was stating that the graphics card you're using, so long as it isnt a pile of junk, doesn't have that much of an affect on performance

i did find however that my mates comp, after going from an XP1500+ to a 2100+ went considerably faster.

Make sure you're using W2k or newer with a lot of ram... W9x/ME are, shall we say, unsuited for large amounts of memory.
