Cuts off after selecting server

Had a few problems the last few days (namely MSBlaster) after a few formats and basically being a pain in the arse i finally fixed it.
So i reformat (3rd time) install everything , patch up daoc , type in password then select server then................................ nothing , just get an empty black screen staring back at me

Anyone ever had this problem its the 1st time its happened to me and im kinda running out of optoins atm , checked all hardware and reinstalled everything (drivers etc...) but it just wont work.

Does it crash to desktop? BSOD? Etc etc anything like that?

Oh and check event viewer

Nah it just freezes on black screen , cant alt-crtl-del or anything and event viewer doesnt show anything out of the ordinary.

Tried older gfx drivers?

and what version directx? and gfx card

DirectX 8.1 , GF4 ti4200 and ive tried 2 different sets of drivers.
Got a few thins to try yet but i doubt they will be succesful (me searches for win98 disk )

I know i really shouldn't be suggesting this as i HATE it when poeple do this but.. try updating to Directx 9.

Ill keep that in mind but from past experience i try not to update Dx unless its badly needed.
A couple more days like this and it will be badly needed

I really really really like you now for saying that.

God how i hate people that must always update to latest everything because "its the best1!!1".

All i can suggest is juggle around with dif drivers. And doing so don't forget the motherboard/chipset and sound etc etc drivers

Downloading DirectX 9 atm if it doesnt work ill be formatting anyway , and yeh i keep to the "if it isnt broke , dont try to fix it" mindset when it comes to updating stuff

Try disabling your firewall to see if the problem persists.
You'd be suprised at the number if ppl with problems like this.
