CS problem :o(

Ok, whenever I try to connect to a CS server, it hangs, I get the timer pop up showing time to time out, it usually connects after 2 or 3 secs (DSL and all that ) ), it then goes through the pre-caching, pops up caching completed, begins downloading from the server, then stops after that is completed, it will hang there for about 2 minutes, and then return to the main menu, no error message or anything. Anyone have any ideas, or should I just do a clean reinstall of HL, with the full patch and the full CS patch?

I get this problem on and off, I find spanking the mouse/keyboard while it is doing the Pre Cache seems to get it to recognise there is an irate CS player waiting at the other end ..

Have you tried GameSpy? I've not had the problem since I downloaded that.

Scooba, does it dump you out of the console? If it doesn't then just type retry and it will try to connect again this works for me if it doesn't get connected first time

Sres, this is using Gamespy, or the in built browser, and Anotoly, it drops me back to the main menu, the initial screen you get if you use the -game cstrike commmand, or whatever it is
