hey, whilst playing CS my mouse seems to lock or just jerk up violently. It seems to lock when im shooting. Im currently using the Logitech MX1000 mouse(its wireless) if anyone could tell what the problem is id be most gratefull.
thanks
I can pretty much only reitterate what Tom has said. Connecting a wired mouse, if only a cheap one, will help to see if the problem is down to the MX1000. Does the problem happen just in CS:S or in other games too? Does it happen in Windows? It could be due to the speed of your net connection if playing online (lag, for example), mouse sensitivity settings in the game(s), graphical settings being set too high (another form of lag, in a way).
The batteries are rechargable for the MX1000, right? Even so, make sure the power indicator on the mouse is showing as full or relatively full before playing.
I think the MX1000 uses radio technology, so line of sight shouldn't be much of a problem unlike InfraRed. Even so, make sure there's no clutter to speak of between the mouse and receiver and remove any unnecessary electrical equipment which could cause interference to the signal (Logitech's manual may mention examples, I'm not sure).
Finally, if Will doesn't kindly move this thread, try the hardware forum where a lot of kind, more knowledgable folk than myself, reside.
ah ok thanks, sorry for bumping tom. it only happens in CS, nothing else wireless in the room. batteries are always full and my ive tried changing the sensitivity, it had no affect. Got a 1mb net connection soon too be 2mb connection. ill try using a wired mouse to see if that changes anything. thanks for your help Jonty/Tom, u guys rox
I'm not really sure what to suggest. It seems odd, given what you've said, that it only affects CS:Source. Does it happen in HL2/HL2DM etc.? If it is only CS:Source then that would seem to rule out driver problems or issues with the mouse itself, leaving only the game, really. If the problem occurs with a wired mouse, too, I'd be tempted to say your Steam update files may be corrupted, but I've never known that to happen without it being more obvious (i.e. the game not running). I'll have a search and see if anyone else is suffering the same trouble.
