CS ports/protocols/etc

Hi

Since the last time i played cs, I have installed a heavy duty firewall and need to write specific rules for each application now. I can't believe, for such a popular game, the trouble I've been having trying to find out what ports and protocols need enabling for cs to work. Basically I need to know:

traffic direction, protocol type, local port, remote port

... details, to enable me to setup specific rules for it. So far, I've found snippets only, which tell me ......

Outbound (destination) TCP 27005-27035, TCP 6003, TCP 7001-7002 to be opened

that's a start I suppose and I assume those ports are the remote ports, rather than local ..... although it's not obvious. I really want to avoid having to watch firewall logs for an hour to work it all out from scratch. Someone must have already done this for themselves.

Please help! :)

Planetside is all about the RAM, more than anything else. If you have 256 or less, steer clear, 512 is passable, and 1 gig you'll be laughing.

I got a XP2600+ 333mhz GF4 4400 512 DDR ram, and I stopped playing Planetside because
a) its bloody geeky and
b) it still didnt run properly on my pc.
What do these game designers want us to do ??!?

(Sorry Will :) )

erk, planetside ...... I played it for a bit but after a while I just found myself thinking "is there any point to this game?". It got very dull, very quickly for me. Joining an outfit helps, but then your there for the people, despite the dull game ;) imo ofc

I have to admit, I've not played it for more than 15 minutes since I started playing RTCW:ET, and got my Op Flash games going again. It is good fun, but you are right, you play for the people, not the game.

I'm ^oWill on the servers, which shows up as Will in a cream colour.

And I have Q3 installed with a few mods. I'd kick your ass.*

*Promised ass-kicking may not actually happen

I'll see if you are about the next time you are online. Though it probably won't be untill Sunday at the earliest.

And you are playing Op Flash then.;)
