CS mouse

I bought myself a microsoft inteli eye mouse a while back which I've found is pretty reliable and never jams, its good for playing games like TFC and Q3 but when I play CS and I'm trying to aim over a long distance my croshair seems like its on a grid and jumps from space to space, this makes aiming very difficult especially if you pretty shit to start with like me :D

What I'm wondering is, is this actually the mouse thats making my crosshir jump or is it a setting somewhere maybe I have the sensitivity up to high ?

Also if it is my mouse whats the best to get and how much do you think I'd be looking at to buy one ?

Thanks :)

HL has an issue with grid-like tracking for optical mice. You just have to deal with it. I notice it less at higher resolutions.

but on a note, he said it works fine for TFC, and i thought TFC was a HL mod? so why no problems w/ TFC but probs with CS... strange...

When I say its fine for TFC I mean you dont have to be so acurate as firing a rocket launcher is a whole different thing to an AK :)

So TFC dosnt require such small mouse movements .

I have about a 1 millimetre jump between mouse spaces, is that normal ?

I get the same thing, it can be bloody annoying but then I suppose the guns are too accurate anyway.

I have a Logitech radiomouse, had it for about 4 years, hardly ever clogs up, never EVER failed, plus, no annoying cable or line-of-sight operation!

It has a 3rd button under the thumb but I cant be arsed using it.

Buffy had the same problem. Optical mice seem to have serious mental issues with CS ;)

I use Intelli Explorer, i trtied to go back to a ball mouse a few weeks ago, but no, after a couple of hours back with my intelli, it did take me a few weeks to get used to it though, but now i love it, i used to use a high sensitivity, but now its something like 2.7.

the only problem i had was when i tried XP or Windows Me, in cs the mouse went all to pot if i moved it too quickly, also happened if i used the intelli point 4 drivers, so i just stick with good old windows 98 and intelli 3.1 drivers.

Jobbie, lo, I use Windows ME and have the problem of the mouse going to pot, the cure to it is to completely dissable the accelerate function and to bring the "normal" pointer speed up to get your mouse speed back (I use pointer speed on full). That did the trick 4 me (ME). :)

I've actually learnt to get around my grid like mouse movent by getting the right hight and strafing till I meet the target, unfortunately I usually die by this time though :(

Don't whatever you do go out and but the Microsoft Cordless Optical mouse, it retails for about £50 i think, bib monstrous right-hand contoured thing. Very very comfortable to use loads of buttons etc, but TOTAL PIGS TWODDLE for games, not sure what it is but it just dosnt respond quick enough, if your getting shot and and you need to turn round in a hurry, you can't, its a bit like trying to avoid a punch when your drunk, cant be done. But for big-screen Championship Manager it rules.

game commander

Is Microsoft's "Commander" any good for CS? Does it make the game any quicker?

i heard the Microsoft Commander is good for games like red Alert, but unsure whether its good for FPS shooter games such as Half Life.

I seen a review of it on [.tv] when it was still runnin on Sky... i miss that channel :(

LOL

That was the most cheaply produced pathetic piece of television I've ever seen. I bet the crew weren't even paid. I'm glad its gone, channels and programmes like that do my work prospects no good at all. Keep up standards and quality, and my daily rate!

well id prob think the same thing, only there wasnt more than what? 2/3 computer channels i know of, on a basic sky digital package that was best outta em all lol

I have tried a Microsoft Strategic Commander and yes all the buttons were a plus but when it came down to movement control it was sluggish and crap (if you can use a keyboard then stick with it). However I sold mine on to a m8 who has used one ever since, soooo each to their own I guess, but it wasn't good 4 me.

The cordless microsoft optical thing is complete crap for FPS games.

Me m8 got one @ our last LAN and i tried it and it was absolute crap. He also seemed to get worse at the games, although being him he kept saying its good and making him better.
*sigh*
