CS Key

Hello all just a quick question. My hl cd has been thrown out by my Missus by accident ( I HOPE ) Now my pc is in need of a format and i dont know my cd key But there is a way of finding out by typind a cetain word in the run option anyone know what the word is coz i cannot remember to save my life ... Plz help if you can i dont wanna lose Cs

REGEDIT

Search the registry for Valve : its a long number (cant remember the exact field) tho.

found some more info :

Start menu > Run
regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER>SOFTWARE>VALVE>HALF-LIFE>SETTINGS
find "Key". double click that and type in your new one. i'd suggest making a backup of your old key just in case. and probably a good idea to not touch anything else you see in regedit unless you know what you're doing.

Also dont you know that its not a good idea to leave things lying around? If i have a piece of Paper on my Desk, theres a 99.9% Chance that it wont be there for more than 2 days coz my Ma' thinks its "untidy" :/

Thats why i have my CD Key still in its box, so then she cant class it as "untidy"

Nah this was a one off . she leaves the tidying of the computer room to me. But for once she did and look what happend.

Yeah, if he was caught using it, he was using it Smartly, and for a 12year old or however old he is..

There's one problem with that was of getting your CDKey. When you go to put it in, when HalfLife asks you, you have to have two dashes somewhere in the CDKey but you won't know where to put them as the registry does not store the CDKey with dashes. :|

That Flat Eric come onto a Server i was on today heh, under his new Name Canabis (Funny Character Letters), heh, so i asked if his name was Flat Eric, he said yes, i said was he caught Cheating, he said no, he said his Brother was caught, not him, shortly after that he left the server, im not sure if he left on his own accord or ZaPpeh banned him (He was playin too)

you dont need the dashes...i've tried it with and without them

yes..er i mean no.

No I've reinstalled half life that many times due to various problems. (turned out my memory was dodgy and was causing bad installations of CS and op flashpoint too)

But before he blamed a .cfg for banning him, somethin like "bds.cfg" so he is kinda mixed in what he was banned for.

Of course, I use the term 'his brother' in a metaphorical sense - his brother is more likely his cheat.
