CS config wiped?

Just joined a BW CS server, not played for a couple of weeks, and my entire config.cfg has been wiped clean. No keys bound, not even console, all settings gone.

Anyone got any ideas what could cause that?

Write protect the config.cfg in your CS directory, HL has done that to me before but not since I write protected.

Maybe a coincidence granny - but I had the same thing.

Couldnt even Buy something ffs.

Thankfully I had a backup of a recent config file.

I usually keep a file keys.cfg, and then if something happens i can restore my config imediately.

I don't like to have my config write protected, or to have it as an autoexec.cfg, because that means any changes you do ingame won't be saved.

I believe you can backup your config ingame by typing `write backup.cfg'. I dunno why they included a command to copy ones config file, as it's hardly the most used command in the world

SuperGray: If you can't exec a file, then it might not exist. First of all make sure it's in your mod dir, not your HL dir. IE: path/Half-Life/cstrike/file.cfg
The only reason a file can't be execed is if it doesn't exist.

ok cheers for the replies people, next time i can be arsed with the hassle i'll set it all up properly, make one big fuckoff granny.cfgt, write-protect it, back it up, print it out, carve it into granite, copy it onto a floppy, email it to a mate and commit it to memory.

Or not.
