/cry

A lot of people have various rituals they perform when they kill someone RvR. Bowing and jumping on people is fairly obvious, but what do people mean when they cry at you ?

The reason I ask is that last night I logged on in Midgard frontier (I had LD'd the previous night whilst there and then couldn't relog). I wanted to beat something up/get back to Hibbie so went looking for Albs/Mids and went to the Alb MG (being in the vicinity anyway). Found a Purple Alb and managed to sneak up behind him (not bad for a tank :)) Couldn't hit him, he hit me for 633 damage and killed me :D He cried at me - was he taking the mick thinking I'd been camping the MG, or was he being crying for killing me so easily (I must have been grey to him) ?

What really annoys me is when an enemy bows or salutes me, ffs, it's a war game, jump on me, laugh at me, point at me and dance.

I find it much more fulfilling to see someone dancing on me than some camping Mids/Albs trying to be all honourable by bowing.

I have taken a shine to blowing 3 kisses to my enemies... just before I kill them (sometimes I cant do that tho), and just after I kill them :)

When I kill someone I just rest if needed and move on. I only /laugh if the corpse is an annoying grey ganking xp killing arse.

/wave or /kiss, depending on enemies gender, with the occasional 'mistake'. (sorry Greggor :p )

only /laugh, /cry, /salute etc when they deserve it. :D

I bow to people I killed, and salute once I kill after they've killed me before. I don't salute/bow to people that I only had a slight hand in killing in, or that didn't give me any RPs ;)

With Kerram I will always bow to People I have killed solo or in small groups.
To brave lower conns that stand and fight rather than flee and get run down.
All is time allows..

I like to be respectful to people i fight
it also is a way of showing gratitude for the fight :)
And i want them to come back and fight again

and as for laughing or dancing i think it is a bit childish. and is normally done by newer players to RvR.. though some high levels do it still... it does not bother me if it done to me , but i will have words with Fellow midgardians that do it to the enemy.

It is all down to what you think is right,

as for /cry I have only seen is used as a sign of remorse. So i assume the high level regretting having to kill you..

Well, there're situations where a /laugh is the only option I have ;)

A while back, I met a large group of Highlevel Albs at the AMG in Odin's, they spotted me, so I ran ... turned the camera if they were still following me, saw 8 of them and kept running.
A few secs later I checked again ... only 2 of them left, kept running.
A few secs later, there were ALOT of ppl behind me, some Minstrel paralyzed me.
You really could see this proud expression on his face saying "I got her!" when he turned around to face his buddies
... what he faced instead was the toothy grin of a horde of Trolls !
ROFLMAO ! ;)

I usually /cry when I have to kill someone that I don't really wanna kill - he/she attacks me and are grey-con or that I accidently or intentionally (due to being alb) killed a groups last resser.

Depending on the situation it would otherwise be /blush, /kiss or /salute (sometimes /cheer or /victory too of course).

I don't do corpsejumping unless the guy I kill is on my hatelist (usually corpse-jumpers and /laugh'ers end up there).

'it's war!' yeh, no reason not to be respectful, although /dance'ing is not really offensive in any way :)

People have a strange way of using these /emote thingies:

One dark and windy night in the depths of Emain a stout group of 3 brave Midgardian fighters, myself the brave Nork and led by none other than Melgar held a force of between 10 and 15 Albion whelps at bay at the wall known as AMG for over 3 hours.

As we had no healer, when Nork sadly passed from our company our demise was not long in the coming, although the two remaining did put up a hell of a battle.

Upon my death a scurrilous Alb upstart used /laugh at me on several occasions....which I thought was very funny seeing as though just 3 and then 2 Middies had caused a much larger Alb force so many headaches for so long.

Shame you cant use /grow up emotes from beyond the grave really.

Well...

I've been jumped on, and laughed at, mostly by grey cons, when they are in larger groups with high lvl enemies. And i'm alone gets stunned and they hack and slash. The jump and laugh. Makes me hate the albs even more. But i still dont laugh at you.

Ohhh sorry forgot, i laughed at Ivan as he tried to kill me at yggdra gates a few weeks ago. I attacked a grey con wisp, hoping he would start shooting at me, and he did, so i got to gank him... :) Sorry bout that, hmmm not wait i'm not sorry bout that...

/saulute is usually when they have put up a good fight, or when I'm impressed at their actions

/cry when they forced me to kill them (greys, etc)

/laugh if they were ganking greys and I (or someone else) ganked them

Most of the time, I will /bow if I have the time, but I don't if I think that it will give someone time to /laugh after killing me for being silly enough to hang around the kill site.

On another note, How do you turn the camera round? I guess I could probably find it in the manual somewhere, but I have looked and I'm a big thick troll!! Please help cuz it'll save me running round and round in circles to check my ass

I always thought the only way to adjust the camera angle was with the F11 key...

if you hold down the ` key (top lhs of keyboard) you can then use the arrow keys to move the camera whilst you stay facing in the same direction - usually best to num lock yourself running forward and then quickly look around (but watch you don't run into aggros :)). To recentre the camera use CTRL-D

I have to say being a scout, I am one of the last little b*ggers to die in a group RvR conflict and because of this i usually observe the whole fight and see everyone's actions. If we win then i rarely even acknowledge the corpses (as i was once nuked in the arse whilst bowing to my victim and have since not tried) :(

But if we happen to loose the conflict then it is usually to a better grp who out performed us. In dying, i have respect for them as they have proven, in this battle, to be better than us. This is completely ruined when they then turn around and start dancing on your body or laughing at you. Why bother, you not only mock my dignity but your own too, I dont see the point...

Thanks for the info Matax, you've just made my life a lot easier and hopefully made it a lot harder for those nasty sneaky little people to catch up to the silly big fat black and yellow troll that runs round and round in circles :D

Damm - even less chance of catching you unawares :(

The /laugh one really annoys me (unless it's justified of course). Last night went onto the battleground (level 25-30 one - can't remember what it is called!)
Was with 4 other Hibs, when about 10 Mids came over the hill. I charged into them and was quickly surrounded by 4/5 - all yellow or higher con to me (and the rest of my group). We only killed one and we all died - they then laughed at us - how sad ! They outnumbered us and were slightly higher levels, we didn't run away but tried to fight and all they can do is laugh (oh and jump on corpses as well). This happened to me a couple of times in the battleground last night - each time I was well outnumbered and all the Mids must have been at the top range of the BG level. Is this normal Mid behaviour - I assume not from some of the answers above. It must just be that all the Mids at my battleground level are sad lewt dood kids !

Being a grey con for a long time in RvR I've been bowed at, laughed at etc.

I think my response is usually tempered by the way the fight goes/went. I certainly do not consider jumping up on down on top of corpses as very polite at all. Think of the mess on your boots and the trail you'd leave in the grass/snow as well!

The greatest influence on the way I react to a corpse stren ground comes from my first RvR death. The norse went round bowing at the coroses which was *sniff* a nice touch.

Well i can think the havent been raised properly, i always try to tell newbies in rvr to show respect for the dead. Sure its a game, but anyway it is people with feelings behind the computer. Sometimes when in rvr and i go suicide against alb pk, due need of sleep since i start work early i have on three times runned into a pretty big mob of albs, so i just stepped away from my comp. to get ready for bed, and when i got back i sure was dead and spammed with laughs, from yes you guessed it grey cons, that i later meet in rvr. One time i sat down and started counting the laughs and came up to close to a hundred. Well who wont get pissed our just laugh back...

well i use too,
/dance with people i know and want to kill
/cry with ppl i know and dont want to kill
/cry to ppl i know when i come across their corpse
/kiss the friends of ppl i know and was forced to kill them
/salute not really used but was generally used for good fight
/laugh ppl i know and i come across their coprse but are on my kill list (not very long)
/bow respect due to person for trying normally accompanied by /cry
/kiss corpses i know and i never want to see them die unless by my hands

I never jump up and down on a corpse, they are dead have some respect, though this normally happens to me by ALOT of ppl as i am not very much liked cough.

oh and alos /dance to attract someones attention (mainly groups or solo ppl, wont give reasons why)

/blush when almost getting caught/ uncovered by someone.

/laugh when being chased while stealthed ie i am not out of the woods.

I do have other ones but i cant remember,

Sadly i dont know what the current owner of Hoster does as all i've heard is he dies lots (oh what a waste of a good repo)

/dance when there is a standoff between one group and another, both groups sizing each other up
/cry I rarely cry, only at own realm members
/kiss stealthers who don't realise I can see them or people trying to hide behind trees ;) Also for any cute, bearded Norsemen runies (hint hint Melgar) ;)
/salute those who gave a good fight or who I have encountered in IRC and seem like a decent player
/laugh at known bug users or general jerks :p
/bow (see /salute)
/clap at enemies who are dead and are taking forever to type /release ;)
/point (see /clap)

When I kill someone "I know" i usually throw a /kiss, that´s always fun. And perhaps a /salute to brave enemys. The only time I laugh is when I see dead stealthers in yggdra.
