Does anyone actually use Seige engines in RvR, besides the ram?

Anyone set up a catapult in a portal keep and shot at campers?
Does the catapult fire indirect, up and over the wall, does it have a longer range than the battlement wizards?

Seen them in emain before, usually when someone with a bit of gold and to much time gets bored.

I remember seeing Scorpions I think set up by Albion on MMG once, 1 both sides of the room ontop of the gate and one behind the door hib side facing towards the MPK. Can't get much more camped then that.

Sometimes people set them up in salisbury plains to 1 shot giants for a laugh too.

Only ever seen them used seriously once, and that was inside Bledmeer fast with catapults, attacking the mids who were trying to take it back, most of the time I only ever see them being used as a joke.

Think last time albs held bledmeer, the had lost of catapults up and running. Or was it the hibs

used it to PL someone once, on the plain
(get highbie Sorc to debuffpull lots of mobs. let lowbie shoot them with Catapult and get LOADS of XP)

also used an Xbow to guard the bridge while taking the Thidranki Keep, but never seriously saw them in "real" RvR

We set up 5 Catapults at MMG in Hadrians once, during a Relic Attempt. Very effective

Build and aim one or two at the doors during a keepdefense to irritate the ones bashing it.
Build four or five and kill them off.

Never seen one in Keepoffense though.
Should work well there too, seeing a lot of people use the courtyard to rest, just randomly toss stones into the keep.
Or aim it at the inner door if there are Hibs defending, to crush those pesky pb'ers

Besides having a lot of good uses, they are bloody fun too.

I have some screenies too. I'll see if I can dig em up

besides that. using 3 or 4 Catapults to give the defenders hell sounds like good tactics. as would be using an Xbow to shoot them off the wall

Catapult = good.
Crossbow = NUKE ME NOW Mr. Elf!

So can you use these Catapults and things for xping?

So, for example, what would happen if you set one up and attacked pygmy tanglers? Would it do much damage to them? Would they attack the catapult or the person that fired it? Do you get the xp for the mobs you kill with them?

you need someone who can take agro with a non damaging spell/ability, and survive that agro long enough to stack all the mobs in 1 spot and let whoever mans the catapult fire.

with tanglers this ofcourse would be kind of hard, because non I know can survive the agro of 30 orso Gobs longer then a few seconds.

as for damage, it's AoE thus it falls off around the edges, but at the center it does about 1k damage.

last;y the one who fires the catapult gets the XP (if a non damaging pull is used, ofcourse) and the agro goes to the one firing the Catapult.

Actually you need someone who can not get hit at all. If the person pulling get's hit they leech xp. As they are generally pulling greys if they get hit the catapult user gets no xp at all for that mob.

it looks like there is a max on the numbers of kills you can have with 1 shot, i think the highs we got was 12 (who we got exp from) in one shot.
