see text "NON SYSTEM DISK OR DISK ERROR"
press enter....
see text "NON SYSTEM DISK OR DISK ERROR"
open case, check everything....
see text "NON SYSTEM DISK OR DISK ERROR"
begin to slightly panic....
try to boot from floppy....
find that system will no longer boot....
watch as screen fills with "0"'s and "1"'s ad infinitum....
begin to feel pretty bad....

....time passes....

manage to get pc to work again....
find that there are no longer any partitions on both harddrives....

use deitypower to resist killing everyone at the lan....

I forgot to mention that a fresh win2k install failed utterly 3 times in a row with something mushy about not being ably to write to drive X. All my partitions magically changed to ntfs tho I only designated one to be w2k. After this win98se's bootdisk's fDisk would hang, then crash.
I could only write to the drives after killing off their partitions and bootrecords [and writing 0's across both the drives], then making them all fresh and shiny and new. After that everything suddenly "worked" again. Tonight I'll prolly reinstall everything and see how it goes.

oh, um a WD and a Quantum. but that's not it: they both work [I think]
I think I managed to make the w2k install0r fsck up. I was swapping drives in and out of the pc before I installed, or tried to install so maybe the bios screwed up, maybe I did something wrong, who knows?
I was a bit pisched that all my luverly linux work was gone but I have a partial backup of that so it's more or less cool. I'm going to very carefully wipe everything and then reinstall, see how that works.

Sounds like fux0red mbrs to me.

You'll want to cross the manifolds on it with the transwarp phase conversion multiplexes and tweak it a little.

*cough*

:D

Yeah, right! If you want to cause an anti-matter cascade and burn out the warp coils! Why not just offline the containment fields while you're at it?

And what about the tachyons, gotta have tachyons mate, no tech-b complete without tachyons, even a powered down positronic matrix would have considered tachyons.

Doh !

You don't know what you're talking about, do you?

cama, dudeh, I inverted the tachyon flux capacitator. that's what started this mess [I think]. you know...de-sync'ed warp fields causing the poleron mesh unit to shut off the trilithium plasma containment fields. turns out that uncontained plasma is corrosive, explosive and generally bad for one's health. not to mention smelly.

I think we can put the blame for the problem a little more simply

User Error.

Its that Linux OS making you soft you just aint ready for the hardcore operating systems

/me gets coat and runs :D

you know, it was FreeBSD that reassured me that the drives were still functioning. The w2k installer died, yet fbsd didn't even blink...:)
