CRASH TO DESKTOP -- starting to get a really annoyance

this CDT happening 5 times in 10-15 mins and lots of peeps seem to be afected.

its really unbelivable, as soon as i log back in (Dun Crauchon btw) i ctd in less than 30 secs. no error messages. ping plots looks nice btw.

The crash to desktop issue is not connected to the routing problems we reported on the News site today. If you get the 'You have been disconnected' screen you've gone linkdead and that's a routing issue. If you're suddenly looking at your desktop, that's the crashing issue.

Currently we're looking into the crash to desktop problem, trying to find what causes it so it can be fixed as quickly as possible. The only reports I've had so far about this have all been from Excalibur and all in the Emain Macha region. If you've had this problem in other zones or on Prydwen then please let us know so that we can include this information in our search for the cause.

I'm getting frequent CTD's on my 2nd PC on Prydwen, it happens in most zones, seemingly at random times. I also get an error message with some of these crashes saying that ddhelp.exe has caused an error in something-or-other.blah and need to reboot. Most of the time though, it's just a CTD.

I'm totally knackered atm so I'm not gonna look up some error logs now, but hopefully tomorrow

Oh, and that pc's running windoze 98 SE, geforce fx5200 with latest drivers from nvidia, directx 9.0c.

Skrad: it's not the same issue.

Requiel: it lasted about 30-45 minutes and the group i was in ctd'ed to desktop lots of times during this period.

Its happened in all areas for me, Emain, Odins, Thidranki, Classic and TOA regions (not checked alb) both using TOA and CATA clients. Especially when i log my second account on, instant crash after loading screen.

Aha, I checked the back of the boxes for ToA and Catacombs and found "some graphics cards and operating systems are not supported" so could be you're right, just thought the info that it was happening on pryd may help.

However, the SI tec spec says win 98 IS supported so I reinstalled that and will hope for the best

btw, from our full group 7 people ctd'ed in less than 30 secs after porting from DL to Crau.

i really hope GOA techies get a fix asap

i ctd the other day in emain on my NS(prydwen)... quite annoying after yove spent 10mins duel loging bot, buffing up, haveing a quick roam around.... then BAM back to desktop :<
