crash on exit (monitor problem)

The new 1.4 CS now crashes the system when I exit (actually the whole PC hangs).My friend has a similar problem - he plays CS comes out OK tries to get back in and it crashes. 1.3 was fine !

I borrowed a different monitor from work and that solved the problem so I guess it is something to do with the re-setting of the video.

Any ideas where to look / what settings to change to fix the problem other than getting a new monitor ?

Both me and my friend have completely different systems and monitors, I'm running XP on a PC World 'e-machine' 1.6Ghz Pentium 4 via 64K BT ISDN hosted on freeserve. the monitor that works is a (very old) Panasonic (Panasynch 5G) the one that didn't was a new viewsonic. Nuf info ???

why not go to the console and type "quit" there, that solves some problems.

I have to type quit in console myself, or you can bind a key to it in the options menu (though that's a little risky I have to say)
