OK, this is a bit of a rant but i'm getting really pissed off now and can't fnd a answer. I use Blueyonder, i have a proxy I wish to use. Now these proxys work. I put them in using internet options > LAN settings, the pages load up. But when I check my ip it is 194.whatever which is mine. Domain is cache-haw.blueyonder.co.uk. This is REALLY pissing me off now, I can't use a proxy, it just always stays on the damn cache-haw. Can't get fast help on blueyonder cause i can't connect to their shitty IRC thing ffs

It has to be with this shitty transparent caching thing how you turn it off?

Don't bitch about Transparent Proxys - if they wern't there, then you'd be bitching about the shit speed you'd be getting.

I believe some ISPs will not route you through their cache if you ask them(ie email them), however if you don't have a solid reason for whastever it is you want or do not want, then don't bother, you're not actually gaining anything.

What do you want to use a proxy for? If you've setup a local cache(ie Squid), then their proxy has nothing to do with it, if you want to use a proxy for IRC or somehting, then again it shouldn't matter since you should only be routed through their cache for port80 traffic.

That's exactly what's happening, I can't use any proxies, I put it in internet options > Lan Settings, yet when i check my ip at www.whatismyipaddress.com it shows my old ip and domain as cache-har.cableinet.co.uk

Well, what the fuck do you want to use a proxy for? Port80 traffic will _allways_ go through BY's cache proxy, so if you don't want the proxy for web surfing, then ignore any websites for seeing what your `outside' IP is.

Why do you want to?

Since By's proxy cache is showing as your IP, you don't have a problem for http stuff.
