When starting at mid, im going to start crafting, once i hit lvl 50.

What do u have? And what are u in need of?

I think i've heard Jimli(?) is a Weap-crafter.

I am a low level weaponcrafter (165) - but will be getting high level ASAP.

I would suggest armoursmith as everyone seems to choose weapons, although I doubt there are many fletchers either.

Actually I think there are more highlvl fletchers than any other type of craft in midgard ;)

At least Attle is 999 fletcher... wonder when my little hunter will get that far, if ever...

I'd love it if you went for a tailor :)

I've currently laid my crafting on hold for the moment, but as soon as Sortbane hits 50 I'll take my armorcrafting up to 999 :) (or atleast die from boredom trying) currently soon at 500 so I have a long way left to the top..

Nice to know im getting famous :)

Im currently a 946 weaponcrafter.

I know a few made it to 650 and Ceinwen and Dusksinger are quite actively crafting atm but don't know if their cashflow holds up.

Attle and Snikr are 999 fletch and heared of a few others but don't know names. Probably also a few in the pipeline.

Plaguey is a 900+ tailor, Xuthos on his way to 800. Probably more in the pipeline.

Zauron told me he had a 999 armourcrafter in his guild (dont know name of guild or crafter) Kama is 900+ but not active atm. Same as above, more in the pipeline (sure of it this time ;) )

Tailor and Armourcrafting = good sales to lowlvls. Highlvls use drops and buy 1 or 2 parts sometimes. Highest AF armour you won't sell 'cause of epic armour in 1.49 (af100/100% quality + bonusses and most important : no cost) This will hopefully improve with spellcrafting/Alchemy planned for August in US (christmas/new year Europe?)

Fletching and Weaponcrafting = some sales to lowlvls (mostly alt with main paying) Good sales to highlvls. Fletching is easy and cheap to get to 999 (i'm gonna get flamed for this ;) ) Weaponcraftng is a long, long road with takes about 20-30 plats to get to 1000+ and a couple of weeks from your live.

Best thing to do is roll a caster, dont choose tradeskill. Save up money and try to become the first highlvl Spellcrafter/Alchemist when it gets here. (hint: looks like you will need these 4 crafts for it so be nice to us ;) )

If you want to start crafting now and feel usefull armourcrafting might be an idea. AC allows you 75% of main skill in both weaponcraft and tailoring. This means you can get these to 500 and build all the ram-parts. Ofc this is only usefull if you are the only crafter in your guild.

edited : Oh god no, not another SB ;)

Ok, thx for reply, Jimli.

I already decided to go for spellcraft, when it comes.

Im trying to find a site, where u could read all needed parts of assamble a siege.

Are u sure Armor-crafters can make them all?

If i am to become an Armor-crafter, which race is best? Troll, for the str? :)

As far as I know the only racial stat that matters in crafting is strength - just so you can carry more stuff.

One more point on crafting...
If you plan on crafting by doing consigments, being a skald, runie or healer helps a lot...
Running around without speed-buff is soooo slow...

Im what you call a siegeist mainly. My crafting skills are as follows:

Armorcrafting 730
Wepcrafting 500
Tailoring 503
Clothworking 730
Metalworking 730
Leatherworking 730
Woodworking 450

Also about the point in you wont sell at high lvls thats gonna be bullshit in the future as you can make AF 108 yes AF 108 on the US servers i believe atm by armorcrafting. If that isnt true then the website placing the orders was bullshit.

I think the point is that Epic armour kinda kills off the high-end armourcrafting business.

With spellcrafting/Alchemy, weaponcrafters should be okay, and I can imagine armourcrafters getting modest orders for armour parts as the stats on epic armour is just too good for crafters to compete against.

If you have platinum to spare high lvl armor and weapons combined with spellcrafting and alchemy are gonna beat epic armor and df drops. Remember that df drops are low qua and epic armor wont last forever.
I am begining to gather some plat to powerskill my way through the new skills.

Well, lets look at this then.

Epic armour is af100, all 100% quality, 35% bonus and it is free. It typically contains 4 stats/skill increases or resists and a proc.

An af98 chain hauberk will cost a crafter around 400g to make, and a skill of 1075. The spellcrafting & alchemy costs are as yet unknown, but I imagine that to add similar stats to armour that the epic has would be costly, and require a spellcrafter AND alchemist of very high skill. Factor into this the cost of failures (very real at this level of crafting) and any remakes in order to get very high quality and you maybe looking at 2 plat or more in order to make a hauberk that can approach the quality of the Epic. You then need the other 5 pieces...

Also remember that Epic armour is only attainable at level 50, so will be a yellow cons?, and at 100% quality will degrade very
slowly. I imagine that pure melee classes may degrade more quickly, but casters, healers, hunters etc can expect their epic to last a very long time.

Epic armour really shafts armourcrafters, end of story...

Err Ches? HAVE YOU SEEN THE THANE EPIC ARMOUR?

12 Plat not to look like a complete pillock is money well spent ;)

a troll skald would be the best race/ class for a crafter, since they have the highest strength and that godly run speed.

im gonna give alchemy my best shot when it comes out, dont know if ill have the money for it though :(

Yes Garnet, it's called Heavy Starkakedja and is in 1.49 or 1.50 patch. But who's gonna pay 10-20 plats for a few af points more compared with af100 100% quality costfree armour with stats?

So like i said in my original post, hopefully spellcrafting/alchemy for custimized stats combined with the higher af will provide the incentive to sell this.

The costs might not even be that bad. On the US servers Armourcrafters think about salvaging the epic armour of the customer for raw material so he only pays the profit and a few missing bits of material. And yes actual salvage of epic armour has shown that they salvage for tier 10 material.

Last point for the skeptics: Stats on the epic armour are general to fit the class. Especially epic armour for classes with 4 to 5 speclines seem to get sucky stuff.
