Think I remember something from the distant past about doing alchemy stuff on shields and then the shield would proc just like armor do - then they removed that option... Or didn't they ??

Anyhow, question being: What the heck to imbue a shield with in terms of alchemy ? Is it possible to have reactives going off , or is only option to use a weapon procc on shields today ?

reactive dot and let the archers kill themself while you hide in your tower. :wanker:

nah honestly i would go for charges, like AF charges or smth, a mp shield is not to high priced if i dont rmbr wrong, and xtra af is nice to have....

Price is not a problem, besides I have some MP shields in my vault :p
And I prefer to put the AF charge on a MP bronze weapon ;)

Procs DO work, it's reactives that don't. The reason is to stop Tanks pulling a mob and then engaging it until it kills itself on the procs :)

Reactives are vs players only, nothing in PvE.
Procs, work on anything I believe.

DoT reactive has very low range of 300 units I believe.
DD reactive has 1500. (if your getting em for archers).

I bought DD reactives for my suit, for when my LG weapon debuffs em, 100 ish dmg instead of 60-80 and also nice for interupting when I got zephyred.

Heal reactives on shields are VERY nice if you have high spec in shield, face and/or engage archers and get healed up if they go off. ^_^

Shields can be imbued with both reactives and procs. As has been mentioned with putting a proc on a shield you need to use it offensively (slam bash brutalise) for the proc to go off. Reactives on armour and on shields will pop in PvE however DD reactives will go off far less frequently than things like Ablatives or Hastes. Now whether that was intended I have no idea but I will say this, I have reactives on all my high level characters and don't consider the crafted bits of my armour complete without them and I'm not a major RvR player.

One other thing, if you are intending to use a shield to engage never ever ever put a DD reactive on it because yes it will go off and yes it will make life very very difficult.

As for charges... MP wool gloves... 2c make cost, 10 charges...

GM status doesn't make them right, ask them about level 47 free levels ;)

I am 99% sure that Reactives were stopped on Shields (Work fine on armour ...) for PvE only due to engage abuse. I am at work so can't check the herald to be 100% sure tho.

I can say I have never seen my Lifetap reactive fire on my shield in PvE, but plenty of times in RvR

I think it's not so much due to engage, but just due to the normal blocking rate.

Engage and damaging opponents doesn't really work, as when they take damage the engage stops working for a while.

However, put a reactive heal proc or ablative on a shield, and someone with 50 shield will find it proccing an awful lot. With only a ablative on his sword, my Paladin is nasty, with one on the shield too, it's much more extreme. If it worked in PvE I'd never be without a 150pt ablative up.
