Hi

Running win2k on SP4
512 RAM
P4 1,8Ghz
Gforce 4 TI4400
DX9 (latest version)

When i run daoc SI-client and i open my taskmanager, daoc requires 100% of my CPU usage.
No mather what priority i give it, it stays on 100%.

Anyone got any idea why this is happening?
Running winamp or whatever application besides daoc, runs like shit, while in other games, this is working very well.

I only got this problem with Daoc-SI.
I tried to search for any recent topics, but couldnt find any info on this one.

Login.dll (or daoc game :p) Will take what it needs and wants, The problems lie in how it thats this. It will take 100% cpu time, does so on my XP box. Theres nothing you can do about that, But if its giving problems, There are a few things you can do.

1 run less in the back ground. This will free up cpu time from these programs and let Login.dll do what its doing faster.

2 get a P4 Hyper threading cpu, This is a single cpu that looks and acts like a duel cpu to system, Login.dll will take 1 half, system processes will move over to the other half.

3 Try lowering priority on login.dll or even increasing priority, Note this is on your head, It shouldn't do anything wrong, But on the very slim chance it does, I only surgested it. You did it :p

Edit Login.dll should read Game.dll

It's always 100%, or at least very near to it. It reserves 100% of the CPU power but gives away when some other program needs, to certain limit. Don't worry about it.

I am running xp too

I get 97-100% when running a single DAoC client and 50% on each client when running two. The only thing I've done is a registry tweak..

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/PriorityControl

and changed

Win32PrioritySeperation from 2 to 0

Don't know if it helped but with a system of...

AMD Athlon 2000+
GeForce 4800-Ti
512Mb Ram
80Gb Western Digital Caviar HD

I have 0 problems and can get good /stick

here m8

a tip i have coz i watch movies and simpsons n things while crafting

when u run winamp ctrl+alt+delete and find the process then set its priority to high

its not a big drain on resources but it means when ur focussing on the main daoc windows you will not steal all teh resources

:)

Mine uses 30-45% per client (2 cpus tho, so that's 70-90% of a single cpu). Very rarely hits 100% even with 2 going.

I'd expect it to use 100% though? Games generally don't alter the "time" speed of the game dependant on the amount of cpu available - they change the framerate. As a consequence - the cpu should always be maxed out - more cpu just means a higher framerate.

As already mentioned - the solution to the winamp problem (or tvcard on a second display in my case) is to adjust the priority of the winamp process - which can be achieved through the task mangler on XP (and presumably 2000). Just knock it up one place (I forget the terms they use - normal --> above normal for example).

Depends how much time the game spends waiting on hardware.
