could not load engine dll.....

...is the error message i get when loading HL and any other mods.It also wont accept any -heapsize

Who all use sig pic grrrr - they're switched off for a reason.

You ned to reinstall the engine.dll file. Either borrow a mates, or re-install HL.

OK,im back...miss me?
I know im a pain but im a noob....I opened the HL cd with explorewr and do not see engine.dll
i also tried to extract useing msconfigs extraction tool... no go.
So,where is this engine.dll and where does it go?

In fact, scratch that, I ain't got an engine.dll at all. Try reinstalling HL completely - if that doesn't work, come back to us.

Thanks i got it...the whole reason of posting problems with a game is to understand that game and how its built.I know i could've re-installed,but i was a auto diagnostician for 10yrs....
we dont replace or just install a new computer when when one of the computer controlled devices fail and we dont know which one it is....we try and figure it out.

Yeah - the thing is that any error involving those fateful ".dll" letters tends to mean a corrupted installation. If I'd had the file in my HL folder, I'd have sent you mine, to see what would have happened, but since I didn't appear to have one...

Oh well, if you get to the bottom of the problem, post up the solution for our future reference.
