Ever since 1.8 has hit, and we've had the various changes, including the new (survival) world added, as well as the minor changes in the reduction of PW's, and more of an overal focus on survival...


...the server is dead. Could entirely be a coincidence, but everytime I've been on, ive either been on alone, or just me and PieOpah. Thats it.

Give that I said people didnt want a total survival enviornment, im not really suprised this has happened. However, whats your take on it, Freddy users?

I have been on a few times, not really had the time for the last couple of weeks. I play wow 4 nights a week anyway

I am still only messing about in northland anyway.

I've started a new job and moved back down to Cheltenham living with gf, with FM12 about to be released.. my minecraft time is done .

Actually, the server is far from dead. Normally there is inbetween 10(on most inactive days) to about 30 players during a day. But people play on some seriously wierd times, which is why it might look very much dead to you.

At the most our server have had 67 people online in one day. But it comes and goes, people usually overplay Minecraft. Take a brake, then come back within weeks/months to play again! Anyway, there are regulary new players to the server, and as the winter hits in I am sure it will blossom once more!

personallly - with PWs removed, making any huge structure is a complete pain in the arse, so i couldnt be arsed. Most of my Monster farms are now lost, wohooo, another super reason to continue.

The server carried on very, very sucessfully without any mods for 6 months. We had PWs, it was Fine. Suddenly, PWs are the bane of the server, an evil so bad they just had to be removed, welcome to the result.

Oh and the server is dead cho, yes yes people may come on, but they are on for less than 5 mins. Pie has spent entire evenings online over the last few weeks, only to see a few people come on, and not for very long, so less trying to convince us eveything is fine m8, the changes made at 1.8 ruined the server. Just look at the northland map - everyones structures in close proximity to each other. Look at arcadia, instead of 'community' the ppl building there are isolationists, as far apart as they possibly can be, no chance ever of joining up that community

I don't see what exactly you have lost at all, as I have not removed anything that people have built on this server. And when it comes to arcadia, people join up with their close friends and start building! Remember that Arcadia have been here for less then a month, while Northland have been here for over half a year. And before blodappelsin and his friends decided to build Northland City, it was just as spread as Arcania is now.

Anyway, those times I have been online now, lthere have always been players online. But I know that people have stopped playing as much as they used to, which is very normal. Minecraft might be fun for some weeks or a couple of months at most, before people get tired and takes a brake, untill they get their inspiration back again and feel like building something new.

When we built the skyscraper in Southland, we did not use any PW at all. We just had a "staircase" to stay there untill the building was done, and it worked perfectly. The reason I removed the multiple PW part is because the server crashing at times because of to many people using it at the same time over and over again, untill 1 of them loads into a unloaded chunck and the server can't handle it anymore.

And I have given everyone the /sethome /home ability, which you can recreate as many times you want. + The setting up a stargate to reach you're different locations

Yeah, i've got 4-5 stargates at the moment and it has the same effect as PW had. With a superpick you can take down a stargate and relocate in a matter of a minute.

Minecraft indeed is seasonal, the game just doesn't hold interest that well over other games and just look at the lineup of games coming/out. It's not supposed to be 60 peeps online 24/7, it's about people being online when THEY want to be online.

I can't speak for any others, but I have just been busy the last couple of weeks, with my studies and other stuff. I think the same goes for thomavef. For me it's just a down period, it happens with this game. Also, with the 1.9.4 prerelease, I have been having som fun in single player with the hardcore mode and the new stuff.

Anyway, thomavef, shinonome, sigbjornsv and myself have started a little town in Arcania, it's just very small at the moment, as we are busy with other stuff as well. Shinonome has built a tunnel from our town to spawn, and we've thought out a stargate hub network thingy. I've seen other folks build together as well, so it's not entirely correct that everyone are far apart in Arcania. I think that the fact that we started without resources slowed down the building somewhat as well.

TL;DR: I enjoy Arcania a lot (and Northland for that matter), stargates are awesome, unfortunately I'm busy with other stuff at the moment.

Been so busy of late not been playing MC at all really, ill be back soon enough, I need to build a Stargate and get back to the old estate assuming its still there....
