I thought it was an off the cuff plan when their original one was foiled. I think the first plan involved a pager and a mobile phone. Thats why his brother kept leaving the studio to make calls but was stopped by the studio.

I think the coughing thing was something they decided to do that evening when they contacted that other player who was also quite dim by the looks of it.
